CALL FOR PARTICIPATION


Dear colleagues,
The Institute for Security, Defense and Peace, at Ss. Cyril and
Methodius University in co organization with Faculty of Security,
University of Belgrade are pleased to invite scholars and researchers to
submit paper proposals for the forthcoming annual international scientific
conference to be held on September 5-7, 2017.
This working title of the conference is The Balkans between East and
West: Old and/or New Security Challenges. The idea of this event is to
bring together scholars from Balkans and abroad for an exchange of
research findings and perspectives on the various issues.
The aim of the conference emanates because of academic challenges
for the sharing of the knowledge and researching results for more sensitive
questions, closely associated with the security challenges and the
implications on the security of the Balkans states.
Among a vast list of possible themes to be discussed, we propose the
following:

APPLICATION PROCESS
Participants will be selected based on the quality of their paper proposal. All submissions
are required to include the application form and the paper proposal (abstract up to 300
words). Submissions should be made electronically to Tanja Milosevska
(tmilosevska@gmail.com) and/or Marina Mitrevska (marinamitrevska@yahoo.com). The
abstracts or papers submitted after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.

Following the conference all presented papers will be peer-reviewed for publication.

DEADLINES FOR APPLICATION AND SUBMISSION OF PAPERS


Application of the topic and submission of abstracts by 10 January 2017
Notification about the acceptance of the abstract 20 January 2017
Submission of final papers by 30 April 2017
Reviewing procedure by 20 May 2017

SUBMISSION OF PAPERS
The attendees who will participate at the Conference with their papers should send the
application of the paper with an abstract in English at the latest by 10 January 2017 to
the e-mail addresses: marinamitrevska@yahoo.com and tmilosevska@gmail.com
You can find the application form for the paper topic at website bom.fzf.ukim.edu.mk
The number of entries per author is limited to two (2) papers (authors of one paper and
co-authors of another one).
The written version of the paper shall be sent at the latest by 30 April 2017.
Papers received after this date will not be considered and will not enter the review
procedure for publication.
Accepted reviewed papers will be published in international scientific journalSecurity Dialogues, that is cited in international databases.
The Scientific Board keeps the right of the decision about the manner of presenting the
accepted papers.
The papers should be written in English language.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS


For writing papers used font StobiSansCn regular. Papers must to have abstract not
more than 300 words. Key words not more than 5. Introduction, main part, conclusion

and literature. The paper need to contains from 4000 to 6000 words. This mean that
papers can be (prepared according to the given margin) from 10 to 15 pages.
Preparation of handwriting
Papers should be written in English language. The manuscript should contatin: title,
authors, institution, abstract, keywords, introduction, contents of the paper, conclusion
and literature.
Title: Size of fat (Bold) letters, 14 points, StobiSansCn Regular, central,). Title of the
paper need be short, but to give a faithful reflection of content and preferably contain as
many keywords covered filed.
Example:CONTEMPORARY ASPECTS OF REGIONAL SECURITY
Authors: name, institution, e-mail address, small fatty (Bold) letters, 11 points
StobiSansCn Regular (cyrillic support) or English language, centrally.
Example: Name Surname, Faculty of Philosophy Institute of Security, defence and
peace namesurname@fzf.ukim.edu.mk
Abstract: 11 points, StobiSansCn Regular, single spaced. The content of the abstract
should be an essential and independent entity.
Keywords: up to 5 words, 11 points, StobiSansCn Regular, single spaced.
Introduction: 11 points, StobiSansCn Regular, single spaced. The introduction should
briefly indicate only the most important of the former research related rework issue and
then explain the purpose and importance of work-study.
Contents of the paper: 11 points, StobiSansCn Regular, single spaced. The contents
of the paper should cover theoretical foundations, experimental part and the results that
have occurred.
Conclusion: 11 points, StobiSansCn Regular, single spaced. The conclusion should be a
brief summary of the paper, and include the results that occurred in the survey.
References: 11 points, StobiSansCn Regular, quoted according to the instructions
given below. The literature stated in a separate chapter in which is entered only
bibliographic units that are used in the paper.
Books and monographs are cited as follows:
Surname, initials (year) Title. Place of publication: Publisher.

If there are multiple authors, Proceedings quotation is as follows:

Sources taken from web sites are quoted as follows:

References in this work: quoted this work are listed in the paper and not in
footnotes or endnotes. They are put in brackets, ie surname and year of issuance of the
said act. For example: (Avijucki, 2009). In case a specific citation reads another page
and, for example: (Avijucki, 2009: 112). Each note is stated as the first time. In case you
cite two or more authors, it is done as follows: (Agnew and Corbridge, 1995) or if
multiple authors are cited first author (Agnew and Associates, 1995). If used more

The conference fee refers to active participation at all sessions, conference materials,
break refreshments and publication of the papers.

TECNICAL NOTE & LOGISTICS


VENUE
International scientific conference on the Balkans between East and West: Old
and/or New Security Challenges will be held in Inex Gorica Hotel, located in
Ohrid, Macedonia.

TRANSPORTATION
Airport-Hotel-Airport transportation will be provided by the Organizing
Committee. Participants are kindly requested to meet with associates awaiting
participants right after the baggage claim.

ACCOMMODATION
Organizing Committee has reserved rooms in Hotel Inex Gorica for the invited
and confirmed participants at special rates.
If participants would like to stay in another hotel, they are expected to arrange
their own accommodation and transportation to/from the conference venue by
themselves.
LANGUAGE
Working languages are Macedonian, Serbian and English. Please bring your
presentation on a USB flash drive. Each presentation room will be equipped with
a laptop and a screen for PowerPoint presentations.
REGISTRATION
Participants are kindly invited to register with the Conference during the checkin process. Registration for the event will start at 6 p.m. on Monday, September
4, 2017. The Registration desks will also serve as the Information desks during
the entire event.
VISA
Is is strongly recommended for the participants to consult the Macedonian
Consulates in their capitals about the visa requirements according to their
passport type and make necessary arrangements for obtaining visa, in necessary.
If so, please address us to provide you a formal letter of invitation as soon as
possible.
INSURANCE
The Organizing Committee is not liable for damage/health problems that may
arise in connection with the journey or during the event. Is is therefore
recommended that the participants take out their own travel/health insurance
before departure.
IMPORTANT DATES
30 April- First drafts of the papers.
10 June-deadline for conference fee payment.
30 June-hotel booking (we encourage to do so as possible since we have limited
number of beds in Hotel Inex Gorica. But we may suggest another hotels or
private apartments in the city of Ohrid.

Flight/travel itinerary is to be send in due time in order to organize transfer from/to


the airport.
