B. RATIONALE
Hand washing is a basic, everyday process but it is also a skill and behavior that must be learned as
a child. As with all skills, the earlier that a child learns and integrates the action into a routine, the more
likely it is to become a lifelong habit.Good hand washing is the first line of defense against the spread of
many illnesses from the common cold to more serious infections, such as meningitis, bronchiolitis, the
flu, hepatitis A, and most types of infectious diarrhea.
The creation of these community outreach program helps the children of Brgy. New Kababae Daycare
Center to lessen the spread of diseases by educating them the proper handwashing techniques. Specially
children come into contact with germs, they can unknowingly become infected simply by touching their
eyes, nose, or mouth. And once they're infected, it's usually just a matter of time before the whole family
comes down with the same illness. This program serves as a springboard to help in reducing factors
affecting the attendance of pupils in schools because it is evident that microorganisms that causes various
infections
is
brought
by
and
transferred
through
hands.
