CONNECTING COMPETENCE, MOTIVATION AND WORKLOAD

NURSE WITH PERFORMANCE IN THE HOSPITAL


BALI PROVINCE MENTAL HOSPITAL
The performance of nurses in inpatient hospital room can be seen from
the quality of nursing care provided to patients. Quality nursing care needs to be
oriented to better patient outcomes. These conditions can be achieved when
supported by adequate human resources in quality and quantity. The performance
of nurses is influenced by several factors, such as competence, motivation and
load kerja.Tujuan this study was to determine the relationship of competency,
motivation and workload with the performance of nurses in the inpatient unit of
Bali Provincial Mental Hospital in 2015.
This study is observational analytic with cross sectional approach, which
describes the relationship of variables in this study. Samples numbered 111 nurses
who served in the room Inpatient Mental Hospital Bali Province using total
sampling technique. Data was collected by questionnaire and observation sheets,
then conducted bivariate test using chi-square test and multivariate logistic
regression test.
The results showed, competence mostly good (73.9%), motivation mostly
good (77.52), most of the heavy workload (73.9%) and the good performance of
the majority (82.0%). Bivariate analysis, no association competence with
performance (p = 0.000), there is a relationship between motivation and
performance (p = 0.000) and there was a marital relationship with performance
status (p = 0.095). Multivariate analysis showed that only competence and
motivation associated with the performance. Competence is the variable most
related to performance, with the value Odds Ratio (OR) 65.38, p = 0.000 and
95% CI 3.64 to 75.12. Workload show bivariate analysis results obtained with the
chi-square p value = 0.94 stated no significant correlation between workload with
the performance of nurses in Inpatient Psychiatric Hospital Bali, but marital
status relationship with OR equal to 4, 57 but this association was not statistically
significant with p = 0.095.
Performance is the appearance of the personnel working both in quality
and quantity within an organization. Competence is the factor most associated
with the performance of nurses so as to maintain and improve the knowledge,
skills and professional attitude of nurses so as to improve the performance of the
nurse in the room to implement nursing care, the development of human resources
through seminars, workshops, training and development of education in
particular in mental health nursing.
