The research entitled "Frequency and distribution of temporomandibular disorders

associated with third molars in patients of the Clinic CIRUMAQP BALDARRAGOCH,


Arequipa 2015" was conducted in order to determine the frequency and distribution
of temporomandibular disorders associated with third molars in patients the
CIRUMAQP BALDARRAGOCH, Arequipa Clinic in 2015. the research is observational,
descriptive and cross-sectional sample consisted of 57 patients who met the
inclusion criteria and had temporomandibular disorder associated with third molars,
instruments used were the index leg diagnostic criteria TMD research CDI / TTM and
radiographic tab observation, of the hypothesis was performed by descriptive
statistics and frequency distribution. The results obtained in this investigation show
that patients 57 selected, only a diagnosis of temporomandibular disorder occurred
in 96.5% (n = 55). Muscle disorders occurred in 8.8% (n = 5) of the total sample;
the displacement of the articular disc in 66.7% (n = 38); and joint conditions in 21%
(n = 12) of which 67% of TMD patients were women (n = 38) and 33% were men (n
= 19). The most common age at which patients have TTM associated with third
molars is between 19 and 21 years 54.4% (n = 31), in terms of distribution for each
diagnosis took into muscle disorders were found in 12.3 % (n = 7), displacement of
the articular disc was found in 66.7% (n = 38) and joint conditions 21% (n = 12)
was found. The most frequent psychosocial aspect was depression and somatization
in females 15.9% (n = 14) and male gender also chronic pain 8.7% (n = 5).
Findings from the study were that there is a high frequency of TTM related to third
molars in patients examined which the female gender is more common, the most
prevalent age is 19 to 21 years, it was possible to distribute the type of TTM related
to third molars in patients examined. TMD are directly related to the psychosocial
aspect of patients.
