6.3 Producing (Constructing)

Students are creating an idea for an original product that does not currently exist. Students are then
using music and technology in the process of trying to make a commercial to help sell their
product.
C Level: 3: Investigating
Justification:
Students are creating original products and function
R Level: 4: Integrating
Justification:
Learning is across subject areas (Consumerism, practical living, music, technology). Learning
emphasizes an original product that could have an impact on the community.
E Level: 4: Integrating
Justification:
Technology is naturally embedded in the assignment and is essential in completing the assignment.
T Level: 4: Integrating
Justification:
Students partner with their teacher to come up with their original products.
I will make a video recording of each presentation on the schools video camera. Then the Library
Media Specialist and I will co-assess the presentations according to our interpretations of the
rubric.

Instructional Design Project

Presenting a Commercial for a Business

Scenario:
Come up with an original idea for a product that does not currently exist. Using technology, create a Musical Composition or jingle
to be used in a commercial for a business. Then, Create a multimedia presentation of your completed commercial to show to the
class.
Student Directions:
Today is the day for you to present your commercials! I am so excited to finally get to see your results and for you to get to
share with your classmates. In previous lessons you were arranged in groups. Your groups have come up with an idea for an original
product to sell. You have researched to ensure that this product does not currently exist. You have created a commercial using a
multimedia program to present to the class. You have also come up with a jingle to go along with your presentations and this is
either embedded into the presentation digitally or you will be performing it for the class during your oral presentations. You have
already done the work, now it is time to present! I will be recording your presentations and Mrs. Doutaz (our LMS) and I will be
scoring your presentations according to the rubric that you have received.

Lyrics that Mr. Guptons group would sing in presenting their commercial to the class:
(A Parody of Pitbulls song Fireball)
I was born with wifi,
And I stay connected to it all the time.
I like being online, but I need a safe connection for my mind
So I wear Firewallkers
I wear Firewallkers
