Notes on Videos:
1. Two camera angles in a video are preferred. This way you have
something to cut away to if one shot messes up. It is also visually
stimulating. If not, one is fine just make sure its a steady shot from a
tripod.
2. Include a website annotation in the top right corner of all of your videos.
3. Invest in good lighting or make sure you are well lit and not under/over
exposed in the camera
4. Get a good microphone or audio equipment so the audio sounds great.
(#1 complaint about videos is bad audio)
5. Wear bright colored shirts or have a colorful background in your shots so
that when viewers are skimming through related videos yours stand out
the most.
6. Keep Videos under 5 minutes in length if you can. The shorter the better.
Use Annotations in your videos, just dont over-do it. Use 2-4 annotations in your
videos at different times in the videos. The most popular annotations in the
videos and the ones I recommend the most are:
1. Subscribe Annotations when clicked it will take viewers to your channel
and they will now be subscribed to your videos.
2. Like Annotations remind people to like your video on YouTube.
3. External Website Link Annotation when clicked, it will take viewers to
your website.
Adding Annotations
1. Go to the video manager
2. Click on the edit button under the video you are adding annotations to.
3. Click on the annotations tab at the top of the screen.
4. Drag the Red Marker to the time of the video you want the annotation to pop
up on the screen.
5. Click Add annotation on the top right of the menu
a. Use the speech bubble if it is an announcement annotation
b. Use the Spotlight if you are trying to make a clickable annotation
6. To set the annotation, write annotation in the box on the right and set the
styles to whatever you prefer. Also set the start time and end times you want it
to show on the video. If you click the link box on the bottom a menu will pop
up. You can choose to link the annotation to a YouTube Video, Playlist,
Channel, Subscribe or project. I usually stick to another video or my subscribe,
although I am sure playlist is another good one to use if applicable. This
means when they click on the annotation it will take them to whatever it is
linked to.
7. To reposition the annotation on the video just click and drag it to the position
you want on the actual video that is on your screen. You can also size it by
dragging the little boxes in the corners to the desired size.
8. You can add multiple annotations to one video by clicking on the add
annotation button on the top right and repeating the process.
9. Make sure to click save at the top right every time you add an annotation.
10.
Finally click Publish at the top right to finalize your annotations.
