Doll in a Bear Hoodie

An Amigurumi Design by Tracey MacIntyre

You will need:
Worsted Weight Yarn in colors of your choice (I used Red Heart Soft Touch
yarn)
Fiberfill stuffing
3mm crochet hook
Safety eyes
Embroidery floss, felt, buttons or sequins for adding accessories as desired
Pastel pencil or blush for cheeks
Abbreviations:
Inc = Increase 2 sc into next stitch
Dec = Decrease crochet next 2 sc together
Sc = single crochet
Dc = double crochet
Slst = slip stitch
(brackets) = repeat until end of row
*I recommend marking the beginning of the row with a stitch marker*
Remember to stuff all parts as you go, before the holes/decreases make it
too small

Starting at the Top of the Head, using a Single crochet stitch:

1) With skin color, make 6 stitches in a magic ring (6)
2) (inc) (12)
3) (1 sc, inc) (18)
4) (2 sc, inc) (24)
5) (3 sc, inc) (30)
6) (4 sc, inc) (36)
7) to 11) Sc around (36)
12) (4 sc, dec) (30)
13) (3 sc, dec) (24)
14) (2 sc, dec) (18)
Add face here, eyes between row 9 & 10, or as you wish. Embroider
mouth, eyelashes, eyebrows or whatever you like. I added tiny disks of
felt behind the safety eyes.
15) (1 sc, dec) (12)
16) (4 sc, dec) (10)
17) Change color to hoodie color, and Sc around (10)
18) (1 sc, inc) (15)
19) Sc (15)
20) (2 sc, inc) (20)
21) to 23) Sc (20)
24) Change color to pants, and Sc around in BLO (Back Loop Only) (20)
This will leave the front loop open around the doll to later attach the
scalloped bottom of the hoodie to.
25) to 27) Sc (20)
28) Here we are going to split the pants into two legs so crochet from
your stitch marker to the middle of the pants on the front of the doll.
Skip 10 stitches, and Sc into the 11th stitch this leaves you with a loop
of 10 stitches to work one leg (to make the second leg, follow rows 29
end, attaching your yarn to the second loop of 10 stitches)
29) to 33) Sc (10)
34) 1 inc, then Sc around (11)
35) Sc (11)
36) 1 inc, then Sc around (12)
37) to 41) Sc (12)
42) 1 inc, then Sc around (13)
43) and 44) Sc (13), ending at back of leg
45) Change to shoe color and in BLO (Back Loop Only)
Sc 5, Inc in next 3 stitches, Sc 5 (16)
46) Sc 7, Inc in next 2 stitches, Sc 7 (18)
47) Sc (18)
48) In BLO (Back Loop Only) (4 sc, dec) (15)
49) (1 sc, dec) (10)
50) Dec (5) and finish off
To scallop the bottom of the hoodie, go back to hoodie color and pick up
a free loop on back of doll where hoodie joins pants. (Chain 2, 1 dc in
next stitch, Slip Stitch into next stitch) repeat around.

Pant Cuffs: Pick up free loop on bottom of pants where pants meet
shoe slip stich around for a cuff. You can use the same color as the
pants, or a different color if you want it to look more like socks
To make the lacing in the shoe, I used embroidery thread, and weaved
around the front loops that we left on row 48. Also I embroidered a
little X on the front of the shoe to look like laces.
Arms (make 2): (I dont stuff the arms)
1) With skin color, make 6 stitches in a Magic Ring (6)
2) Sc around
3) Change to hoodie color, and Sc around
4) To 11) Sc around, leaving long tail on last row to attach to doll.
Hood:
1) With hoodie color, make 6 stitches in a magic ring (6)
2) (inc) (12)
3) (1 sc, inc) (18)
4) (2 sc, inc) (24)
5) (3 sc, inc) (30)
6) (4 sc, inc) (36)
7) to 9) Sc around
Stop crocheting in the round now
10) 32 Sc, turn
11) Chain 1, Sc in second stitch and across (32)
12) Chain 1, Sc in second stitch and across (32)
13) Chain 1, In BLO- 15 sc, inc in next 2 stitches, 15 sc (34) finish off
with a long tail for attaching to doll
Hoodie ears (make 2):
1) With hoodie color, make 8 stitches in a magic ring (8)
2) And 3) Sc (8) Attach finished ears to hood. You can get creative with
the ears, bunny or cat ears would work just as well
Before attaching the hood, embroider some hair on your doll. The hood is
stitched in place, so the hair only needs to go back a bit under the hood,
rather than covering the whole head. I embroidered lengths of yarn on,
leaving 12 yarn ends on each side that I braided together. You can use
mohair, silk hair, ribbon, yarns or anything that you like for your dolls
hair. If you look up amigurumi hair tutorials on-line, there is no end of
ideas for hair!
Attach arms, and lastly attach hood to doll. I used the long tail of the
hoodie to make several wraps around the neck of the doll before stitching
the hood in place this gave a nice neckline to the dolls hoodie. You can
add buttons or sequins or anything you like to fancy up her clothes.

Please do not sell my pattern, it is offered for free. You are welcome to
sell the dolls you make from the pattern
Happy crocheting!

Please remember that safety eyes and tiny parts are not suitable for small
children. When making toys for younger kids, it is best to embroider on the
eyes, and skip the tiny embellishments that could be a choking hazard.
