Course Guide Student Tutoring Contract

Mission Statement:
Course Guide is a non-profit service that mobilizes academically prepared
students to tutor other students by providing one-on-one attention to master difficult
concepts.
Purpose:
To connect students and their families with high qualified, passionate, and
affordable student tutors who provide one-on-one attention in order to master concepts
in a specific area of need.
For elementary students, tutors will help complete homework assignments with
accuracy and focus while inculcating the best study habits at a young age through oneon-one attention.
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that
from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the
Lord Christ.

Expectations for Tutors
1. All tutors are required to interview and provide a recommendation for the
class(es) they hope to tutor in.
2. All tutors must provide recent transcripts which will be confidential.
3. All tutors are required to meet with the students teacher before initial session.
4. All tutors will be given suggested hourly fees either $30, $35, or $40 (although
tutor ultimately decides what they will charge) for their tutoring depending on
highest course completed in that subject, level academic experience, extent of
tutoring experience, recommendations from previous teachers and families

families and based on tutoring experience gained
2. Tutoring elementary kids, just helping them with homework, is a set price
that will be a total cost of $25 an hour regardless of tutors normal hourly
fee.
b. All tutors are expected to arrive at least 10 minutes early to each session.
Conditions:
c. The frequency of which a tutor gets recommended to families will depend on
work ethic, attitude, level of expertise, availability, reliability, and feedback from
families.

d. If a tutor fails to respond to a tutoring opportunity within 24 hours, that particular

opportunity will be offered to another tutor.
e. Please note that this service provides opportunities on an as needed basis. If
the demand for tutors is low and the number of available tutors is high, less job
opportunities will be available.
f. Tutors will be directly by the families (via check or cash) and are responsible for
communicating with families about payments.
g. Tutors that fail to represent our service well may be suspended from receiving
future tutoring opportunities.
What I am looking for in a tutor:
Someone who is:
academically experienced in the specific subjects he or she hopes to tutor in.
recommended by teachers in that subject(s)
passionate about learning and teaching others
enthusiastic about working with students (i.e. appreciates tutoring regardless of
pay and doesnt see this as simply a job but also a hobby)
always prepared and on time
reliable and wont miss nor cancel a scheduled session without an advanced
notice
relatable to students that cant understand concepts right away and can adjust
their teaching to the understanding of the student
willing to give up an hour of his/her time regularly
a diligent and honest worker
trustworthy to represent both Second Baptists name in a responsible, ethical and
diligent manner
I agree to the expectations and conditions stated above. I recognize my responsibilities
as a student tutor and will do my best to work according to the values and purpose of
this service. I realize that failure to uphold my responsibilities may result in termination
of my access to this network and potential to receive tutoring opportunities through it.
