Higher-education Students

Overview
Programme Description
The scholarship addresses highly qualified undergraduates, graduates and doctoral candidates either at
institutions of higher education in the Land of Baden-Wuerttemberg or at their international partner
institutions. Every year 1,200 young people from all over the world are given the opportunity to study
abroad. Scholarships are equally distributed between applicants from the Land of Baden-Wuerttemberg
and candidates from abroad. The funding period ranges between three and 11 months. Entire degree
courses (Bachelor's or Master's) or PhD programmes are, however, not eligible for funding. The
sponsorship amount is calculated individually and varies, depending also on the term (semester) and the
scholar's academic progress. The minimum scholarship is of EUR 500, the maximum of EUR 1,500.
Upon their return scholars receive non-material assistance and are part of a broad international network
connecting people from differing disciplines and cultures.

Application Requirements
Beside an excellent academic record, selection criteria include the applicants' social and intercultural
skills; candidates are also selected on the basis of the principle of equal opportunity. As part of their
internationalisation strategies the single institutions of higher education have the liberty to limit their
selection to candidates from determined disciplines, i.e. for certain exchange programmes.
