1) List down the development issues in your respective country

(Afghanistan)?
My home country, Afghanistan have witnessed several developmental issues over the
past two decades which includes the after effects of war on terror, Lack of Human
rights, Unemployment and Poverty, Inaccessibility to Quality/ Tertiary education,
Corruption, lack of mechanism for collection of taxes and others. In this essay, I have
provided synopsis of each of these issues whose resolution is the dire need of the time.

1) War/Terrorist:
The war in Afghanistan is the world's longest-running war which started in the year 1996
to 2001 during these years millions of people have been killed by Taliban and AlQaeda's terrorist attacks, more than thousands of people became paralyzed physically
and mentally /handicapped, and millions of afghan people were forced to run away or
flee from my nation (Afghanistan) to another countries in the world legally or illegally,
people have to walk the mountains all day and night along with their children to cross
the borders and reached to a safe place and the remaining people died because of
hunger, the women are being killed by Al-Qaeda group in the road and even in their own
homes, because it was the while the whole country was on the hands of Al-Qaeda,
there was no government, no police force, no NATO NO ISAF forces but, after 2001 the
country was taken back by the government and today we have all the necessary forces
then why the same torture is going on? Why police and government can't save the
schools from bombing? Why children are forced and kidnapped from schools?
According to NATO and ISAF it's now a peaceful country. There is no more war in
Afghanistan then, who do this terrorist attacks? If the war is finished then why still public
loses their lives? The answer is, it's still war in Afghanistan, because 65% of
government is corrupt and this is the reason of the presents of terrorists in the country.
Taliban and Al-Qaeda never left the country, they just change their faces the differences
of 1996 war and today's war is that at that time the war was exhibited and faces were
revealed and now it's clouded.

2) Demolishing Of Educational Institutions:

One of the devastating effect of war on Afghanistan is the elimination of education from
its roots. In previous years, due to the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the education
system was almost non-existent. Most teachers fled the country and schools were
bombed. On top of this, during the Taliban reign, education for females were forbidden,
creating a huge disparity between the genders. In the year 2000, 43.1% of males aged
25 and over was able to read and write, while only 12.6% of females were able to do the

same. Of the 1.2 million students enrolled in school, less than 50,000 were females, and
now in 2016 we have schools we have teachers and more than millions of afghan youth
are educated but the education curriculum is not internationally acceptable. The way we
studies in Afghanistan is acceptable only in Afghanistan. For example here subject is
either in Persian or Pashto language, where in more than 73 countries of the world
English is the main language.

3) Lack Of Health Facilities:

The second most impacted sector of the country was health care which was completely
destroyed. There was No Human rights at all in the country, the whole country was
turned into a living hell, lots of difficulties were faced by Afghan people until the ISAF
and NATO military force entered to Afghanistan in 2001 to fight against Taliban and AlQaeda and bring security in the country. In 2003, there were 18 physicians and 11
nurses per 100,000 people, and the infant mortality rate was 165 deaths/1000 births
around the beginning of the war, one of the highest in the world. With the help of NATO
countries such as USA and France who were major stakeholders, several new medical
facilities were built, and Afghan females were educated and trained to fight back
diseases and other problems. The child mortality rate decreased by 26% since 2003,
and now, nearly 85% of the population have access to primary health care, up from a
mere 9% in 2002 The life expectancy jumped from 47. But still Due to constant war,
Afghanistans health care, economy, and education has been devastated. when there
was less number of doctors there was quality in medicine and service now in 2016 we
have more than 3000 hospitals only in one city but still people have to go abroad for the
treatment why? because those who is not even able to read and write have a hospital
and medical store, the patient who belongs to rich family will go abroad for the
treatment but poor sick people are dying because of their cheap medicine. One
educated doctor is better than 100s of uneducated murderer.

4) Lack of Women Rights/ Life Insecurity of Women and

Children:
The ''Afghan war'' was started in 1996-2001 as a UN report now the country is fully
clean no Taliban no Al-Qaeda. Then why women and children's life are not secure? Why
women are being raped even by police? why even today girls and women can'tgo out
alone? Is this called security? how did you finished the war that still Every day of the life
is full of terror for females, in many part of the country women are being killed if they
walked out without veil (Hijab) and children are being kidnapped and forced to leave
their home and schools and join the Terrorists / Al-Qaeda's groups otherwise they will be
killed by the brutal forces of terrorist. Due to the war in Afghanistan many families have

lost their daughters, sons and wives and they are still missing and no one have the
answer for questions like where they are? What happened to them? Are they still alive
orkilled by Taliban? Are they safe? Or are they still suffering the physical and mental
torture?
Not only during the 1996-2001 ''Afghan war'' but also now in some parts / provinces and
villages of Afghanistan women and girl child are not safe and they are not treated in a
dignified manner, though people in some parts of Afghanistan are living in 21st century
but their belief systems are against human and they still treat women as the machine of
bearing kids, doers ofthe house work and to serve the lust of men. Women has no life in
Afghanistan as well as children are being forced to begging, robbery, child trafficking
and many other crimes.Millions of dollars comes to the country every year but there is
still no change in security of life.

5) Unemployment And Poverty:

Unemployment is one of the biggest crises facing today by Afghan peoplein both urban
and rural areas. The unemployment rate has peaked to 40 percent in 2016 in
Afghanistan, showing a 15 percent increase as compared to the same time last year
(2015). Insecurity, lack of jobs in government and the private sector organizations and
lack of industries, lack of factoryand Lack of development projects are the main factors
behind growing unemployment in urban areas and cities in Afghanistan. More than 50%
of companies as well as school teachers and other educated people usually run away
from the country because of the continues terrorist attacks since last 3-4 years.
Students who went abroad to get knowledge and complete their education feel despair
when on returning to the country there is no job available for them. Graduates
irrespective of their education and enhanced skills, has to work as a labor or farmer for
a wages of less than $2 per day and sometimes they don't even get that job as well.
The economy isnt doing any better because the war have destroyed the infrastructure
of the country and interrupted its normal trade activity. Afghanistan is totally destroyed
by war and it would definitely be painstaking, and effort requiring to get the facilities to
build up again because the damages that are caused by ten years of war will take
decades and all afghans will be required to work together day in and day out to build up
our country again. but how people will stay and work for the development of such a
country where there is no job, no food, in Badakhshan province since 2 years before
people were eating grass to feed them self.Today large number of jobs are given to the
foreigners like Pakistani, Indian, and USA people and their own local people eats grass.
