1) Fix the upper bracket of the adapter mechanics on the plinth with three screws.
Tighten the screws to 10 Nm.
In pole installations, if you are installing modules on both sides of the pole, make sure you install the upper
bracket on the opposite side of each plinth so that the plinths are facing the same direction.
Secure the screws with a thread-locking compound in pole and wall installations.
Use non-permanent thread-locking compound of medium strength (for example Loctite 243 or equivalent).
2) Fix the lower bracket of the adapter mechanics on the plinth with three screws.
Do not tighten the screws yet.
When the screws are left loose at this point, it allows the plinth to move slightly and prevents twisting in the
installation phase.

7.3 Mounting the plinth on a wall

A plinth is required for mounting the modules on a wall.

Check that the plinth adapter mechanics are installed before starting the activity
If installing additional plinths one upon the other, the distance between the upper mounting screw holes in
first and second plinth must be 550 mm (21.7 in.) minimum.

1) Mark the mounting screw locations on the wall and drill the holes for the screws.
2) Fix the upper mounting screws to the wall, lift the plinth on the wall and fit it to the mounting screws.
Check that the plinth is leveled.
3) Tighten the upper mounting screws.
4) Insert the lower mounting screws.
5) Tighten the lower mounting screws.
6) Make sure that the plinth is not twisted.
When the plinth is in a correct position, tighten the three screws in the lower bracket of the adapter
mechanics.
7) If you are installing more than one plinth, repeat steps 1-6 for each plinth.
Note that the required space between the plinths is 100 mm.

7.4 Mounting modules on a wall

The stand-alone BTS can be installed on a wall. The maximum number of modules per plinth is two.
To meet the earthquake requirement Telcordia GR-63-CORE and the vibration requirements for
Earthquake Zone 4, the four module fixing screws between the module core and the module casing must
be tightened to 5 Nm.

Note:
1) The plinth is installed as per standard plinth installation guidelines. Refer to mounting the plinth on a wall
for installation instructions.
2) The plinth is grounded and ensure that we have one plinth per two modules

If you are going to install Flexi Power Module (FPMA), it should be installed on the same plinth as the
System Module. For more information on FPMA installation, see Installing Flexi Power Module (FPMA) in
the Installing Flexi WCDMA BTS Optional Items document.

1) Align the holes on the first module's bottom with the fixing studs on the plinth.
Line up the locating marks on the side of the module to help aligning the holes with fixing studs.
2) Push the module back until it stops.
3) Attach the module casing to the plinth with two screws.
Secure with thread locking compound (medium strength, non-permanent, for example Loctite 243 or
equivalent).
4) Connect the module grounding cable between the module front panel and the plinth. See Grounding
principle of the stand-alone BTS for more information.
5) Align the holes on the second module's bottom with the fixing studs on the first module.
6) Push the module back until it stops.
7) Attach the module casings to each other with two screws.

Secure with thread locking compound (medium strength, non-permanent, for example Loctite 243 or
equivalent).
8) Connect the module grounding cable between the module front panel and the plinth.
9) Attach the fixing plates across the module casings on both sides of the modules and fix with six screws
and spring washers. Secure with thread locking compound (medium strength, non-permanent, for example
Loctite 243 or equivalent).

Repeat the steps above to install the remaining modules to a separate plinth or plinths.

One plinth can have two modules installed. A configuration of one System Module and three RF Modules
therefore requires two plinths.

7.5 Mounting the plinth on a pole with VMPB

There are two pole mounting kits available for mounting the plinth and modules on a pole: VMPB and
FPKA. If you are using the FPKA, see mounting the plinth on the pole with FPKA.

In pole installation, one plinth can have a maximum of two modules installed. If the configuration has more
than two modules, additional plinths must be installed. Two plinths can be installed on one pair of mounting
brackets (on opposite sides of the pole).

Check that the plinth adapter mechanics are installed as instructed in fixing adapter mechanics to plinth.

There are three different lengths of bolts available and four places for the bolts in the pole mounting
brackets. When attaching the brackets to the pole, use the shortest possible bolts and the holes whose
distance is the closest to the pole diameter.

There is no need to use thread-locking compound or lock nuts when installing the VMPB.

7.6 Mounting the plinth on the pole with FPKA

A plinth and Flexi Pole Mounting Kit (FPKA) are required for mounting modules on the pole. FPKA is
designed for poles between 60 mm (2.4 in.) and 120 mm (4.7 in.) in diameter.
If the pole is wider than 120 mm, then pole mounting kit (VMPB) is required for the installation. For
instructions, see Mounting the plinth on a pole with VMPB.
FPKA has room for four 3U modules. The modules can be installed on the opposite sides of FPKA.
There is no need to use thread-locking compound or lock nuts when installing the FPKA.

Check that the plinth adapter mechanics are installed as instructed in fixing adapter mechanics to plinth.

Check for the following conditions:

The plinth is grounded.
One mounting plinth per two modules is installed on a pole. See mounting the plinth on a pole for plinth
installation instructions.
The four module fixing screws between the module core and the module casing have been tightened to 5
Nm.
When using screws to fix a casing to casing, plinth to casing, or plinth to pole, the screws must be secured
with thread-locking compound (medium strength, non-permanent, for example Loctite 243 or equivalent).
If you are going to install Flexi Power Module (FPMA), it should be installed on the same plinth as the
System Module. For more information on FPMA installation, see Installing Flexi Power Module (FPMA).
A pole-mounted Flexi WCDMA BTS does not require regular maintenance.

1) Align the holes on the first module's bottom with the fixing studs on the plinth. Line up the locating marks
on the side of the module to help aligning the holes with fixing studs.
2) Push the module back until it stops.
3) Attach the module casing to the plinth with screws and spring washers. Secure with thread locking
compound (medium strength, non-permanent, for example Loctite 243).
4) Connect the module grounding cable between the module front panel and the plinth.

5) Align the holes on the second module's bottom with the fixing studs on the first module. Line up the
locating marks on the side of the module to help aligning the holes with fixing studs.
6) Push the module back until it stops.
7) Attach the module casings to each other with screws and spring washers. Secure the screws with thread
locking compound (medium strength, non-permanent, for example Loctite 243).
8) Connect the module grounding cable between the module front panel and the plinth.
9) Attach the fixing plates across the module casings on both sides of the modules and fix with six screws
and spring washers.
Secure with thread locking compound (medium strength, non-permanent, for example Loctite 243).

Mounting the modules on a pole

Repeat the steps above to install the remaining modules to a separate plinth.
One plinth can have a maximum of two modules installed. A configuration of one System Module and three
RF Modules therefore requires two plinths.

7.8 Installing Remote Radio Head (FRGG) on the pole

Unpack and check the FPKA delivery contents. See Contents of the Flexi Pole Mounting Kit (FPKA)
delivery.
The Flexi Pole Mounting Kit (FPKA) is required for mounting Remote Radio Heads (RRH) on the pole. The
