How to Prepare PC for TCIF Installation

Overview
Note: If the TCIF boards are not new (or have been installed in a different version of
software) and the TC was previously declared to an OMC-R, it is first necessary to
remove the TC from OMC-R (see Remove 9125 TC with TC STM1-IP subrack from
the BSS Configuration Handbook) before the starting the TCIF installation.
Note: This section is performed back office in order not to spend time onsite
unnecessarily.
The time interval necessary to perform this section depends on the speed of
connection in the case where all the services must be downloaded via the Internet.

Configure NFS Server

Procedure
Perform the following steps:
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

1 Right click on Cygwin icon and click on Run as administrator.

...................................................................................................................................................................................................

2 In the Cygwin shell window, enter the following commands:

/usr/bin/nfs-server-config
Do you want to continue? <yes/no>
yes
Do you want to run the nfsd server under a separate user account?
no
The following additional questions are displayed if the NFS server is
already configured and a reconfiguration is performed:

Do you want to re-install the portmap service?

no
Do you want to re-install the mountd service?
no
Do you want to re-install the nfsd service?
no
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

3 Edit the export directories:

vi /etc/exports
If a new window with the version of the vi editor appears, close it.
Check the line containing the local export directory, inside this file.
For example, if the TCIF new software package is under Windows Explorer in the
directory C:/SOFT, in the /etc/exports the following line appears: /SOFT/ (ro,
all_squash).
If the directory is not listed in the exports file, you have to add manually the above
mentioned line.
Note: This new line introduced will have no "#" in the beginning.

4 To start the NFS server, under Windows, click on Start -> Run and enter services.msc

There are three services associated with NFS:
Cygwin mountd
Cygwin nfsd
Cygwin portmap
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

5 Right click on each of these and use the popup menu to start all three servers.
Result: Portmap starts automatically when you start either nfsd or mountd first. There
is a dependency between system services that Windows tries to maintain
automatically.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

6 Check, in the services window, that each service is started.

Note: After editing any of the configuration files from the /etc directory, you must
restart these services. Because mountd and nfsd are configured to depend on portmap,
it is sufficient to right click on portmap and select restart.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

7 During the Cygwin usage, turn off the Windows Firewall and any other firewalls installed
on your PC.
Under Windows, go to Start->Run and enter:
firewall.cpl
Note: If the following message appears Windows Firewall settings cannot
be displayed because the associated service is not running.
Do you want to start the Windows Firewall/Internet Connection
Sharing (ICS) service?, click on YES
Result: The Firewall Settings window opens. From here, depending upon the
Windows version, make the appropriate changes to turn off the Windows Firewall.

Reshuffle MT120 Boards in the Rack

Overview
Only perform this procedure if it is applicable.
Use the anti-static wrist strap when reshuffling the MT120 boards.
Do not plug in the spare MT120 boards.
The 9125 TC rack is delivered from the factory with the MT120 boards filled from
bottom to top (starting with subrack 4) and from left to right with no gaps.
If the PCM cables were run by the top of the rack and the rack is not fully equipped, the
MT120 boards must be filled in the rack from top to bottom (starting with subrack 1) and
from left to right.

Procedure
Reshuffle the MT120 boards in the rack:
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

1 If the PCMs run by the bottom (see Site-Specific Information (p. 1-6)) and if the rack
is not fully equipped but provision for BSC / Ater Mux extension was foreseen, arrange
the MT120 boards according to the requested configuration.
Respect the filling rules from bottom to top and from left to right, leaving the
corresponding gaps for extension.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

2 If the PCMs run by the top (see Site-Specific Information (p. 1-6)), and if the rack is
not fully equipped, move all the MT120 boards from bottom to top of the rack and
arrange them according to the requested configuration.
Respect the filling rules from top to bottom and from left to right, leaving the
corresponding gaps for extension if provision for BSC / Ater Mux extension was
foreseen.
Note: The fan units must be moved together with the MT120 boards if the TC
rack is not pre-equipped with fans.

Alarm FC 209: Fault in Internal Bus Recovery

Overview
Depending on the software version, one of the following cases applies
Software Version Older than MT12AX31A (p. 2-89)
Software Version MT12AX31A or Newer (p. 2-91).
Identify your software version before performing the recovery actions.

Software Version Older than MT12AX31A

Note: If you are in any release older than B10 Release MT12AX31A and TC NEM
software older than TC AX30A and you find the
FC 209: Fault in internal bus alarm with Additional Info listed in the
following table, perform the following procedure.
Table 2-2 Additional Info Values

Detailed Meaning Error Counter on Clock Master on Loss of Clock on

Additional info Shown by TC NEM TCIL TCIL TCIL

Loss of clock - - X
Master supervision error - X -
Loss & Master supervision error - X X
TCIL error counter X - -
TCIL & loss error X - X
TCIL & master error X X -
TCIL, master & loss error X X X

Note: There are two TCIL busses which are referenced as TCIL 0 and TCIL 1 in the
following text.

Procedure
Clear the alarm:
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

1 If a board shows a clock master error (refer to the above table) which has not the lowest
address (lowest among the equipped boards) and not the highest address (highest among
the equipped boards), it means that this board has a hardware failure and is falsely a clock
master on a TCIL.
Replace this board.

....................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Repeat Step 1 for all boards with that clock master error.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

2 If you see a clock master error on the board with the highest address (highest among the
equipped boards)
The is because:
Either this board acts as clock master on TCIL 0 (which means this board acts falsely
as master),
Or there is currently no clock master on TCIL 1 and this board only reports that it is
not the clock master for TCIL 1
In either of these cases you also will see error counter or loss of clock alarms on a number
of the other boards.
To find out which case you have, do the following:
Check if you already have a board at address 75 (right most in subrack 4)
If yes, then replace the board that has the clock master alarm (as in Step 1)
Otherwise, put a spare board at address 75
Now, if all alarms disappear, there was no clock master on TCIL 1
In this case, leave that spare board at address 75. The reason for this problem is that
the hardware clock master selection does not work reliably enough in all situations.
If the clock master alarm persists, then replace the board with that alarm (as in Step 1
).
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

3 If you see a clock master error on the board with the lowest address (lowest among the
equipped boards)
This is because:
Either this board acts as clock master on TCIL 1 (which means this board acts falsely
as master)
Or there is currently no clock master on TCIL 0 and this board only reports that it is
not the clock master for TCIL 0
In either of these cases, you also will see error counter or loss of clock alarms on a
number of the other boards.
To find out which case you have, do the following:
Check if you already have a board at address 16 (left most in subrack 1)
If yes, then replace the board that has the clock master alarm (as in Step 1)
Otherwise, put a spare board at address 16
Now if all alarms disappear, there was no clock master on TCIL 0.

Software Version MT12AX31A or Newer

Note: If you are in any software release such as MT12AX31A or newer and TC NEM
software TC AX30A or newer and you find the
FC 209: Fault in internal bus alarm, perform the following procedure.
Clear the alarm:
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

1 Connect the TC NEM to one MT120 board and check the software version on each board.
Refer to Connect to MT120 (legacy) Boards (p. 2-30) or Connect to MT120 NB/WB
Boards (p. 2-32) for more information.
Note: If it is not possible to perform a global TC rack connection or check, connect to
each MT120 board and check the software version running on each board.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

2 If there are MT120 boards running in a software version older than MT12AX31A,
upgrade these boards to the latest software version running on the other boards of the
same TC. See Install MT120 Software (p. 2-42) for more information.
...................................................................................................................................................................................................

3 If, after all MT120 boards are running in the same software version, the
FC 209: Fault in internal bus alarm is still present, identify the boards
reporting the alarm then replace these boards. Refer to the Alcatel-Lucent Compact
Transcoder / G2 Transcoder - Corrective Maintenance Handbook for more information.
