MATTHEW

Syllabus

I. GENERAL INFORMATION.

A. This course consists of 39 video lessons.

B. Each lesson is approximately 38 minutes long.

C. Instructor: Dr. Denny Petrillo.

II. DESCRIPTION AND PURPOSE.

A. This is a detailed study of Matthews gospel with in-depth attention to


special subjects as they arise.

B. This study should lead to a deeper commitment to Jesus and a broader


understanding of His mission.

C. Students should better understand the practical applications of this book.

D. Students should understand the doctrinal sections of the book and be able
to teach the book to others.

III. INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS.

A. Bible.

B. 39 video lessons.

C. Course notes.

IV. REQUIREMENTS.

A. Read the entire book of Matthew at least once.

B. View each video lesson.

C. Read the course notes (it is good to go through the notes at the same time
you view the lessons adding your own notes as needed).

D. Submit a term paper (explained below).

E. Take two tests.

F. Have a combined grade average of 70 or more in order to pass the course.

V. TESTS.

A. There are two tests over Matthew. The first test covers chapters 1-12 and
the second covers chapters 13-28.

B. Tests may be downloaded at any time. You may use the test as a study
guide while you are viewing the videos or for an extra challenge wait until
you have completed the videos to download the test.

C. When you take a test you must do so completely from memory with no help
from your Bible, notes, etc.

D. You do not need a proctor when submitting any material for grading, God is
your witness.

VI. TERM PAPER.

A. Choose a person in Matthew then write a paper detailing his/her life. Include
at the end of your paper three or more lessons which can be learned from
his/her life.

B. The paper must be a minimum of 7 pages, typed and double spaced, but
please by concise with no more than 10 pages total.

C. The paper is due when you submit your final test for grading.

VII. GRADING.

A. Term paper and tests will be graded separately.

B. Your final grade is based on an average of all assigned work.

C. You may request that a grade be explained or reconsidered, but in any case
the WVBS Online Bible School will have the final say.

VIII. CREDIT.

A. Credit will be issued, including a certificate, only after all work has been
successfully completed.

B. We pray this study has been helpful in your journey to eternity.
