Dave Perry Rules!

By Greg Rutter

Many world-class sailors can give a competent talk, but few are
as knowledgeable and engaging as the highly experienced and
decorated sailor Dave Perry, especially when it comes to the Racing
Rules of Sailing (RRS). He definitely ruled the room at Cal Yacht
Club recently when he gave his presentation on the revised RRS
2017-2020.

Although Perry has a stellar junior sailing race record, was captain
of the National Championship Team at Yale where he was an All-
American twice and was a regular on the regular podium in several
boat designs including the highly competitive Laser fleet,

Perry is extremely approachable, self-effacing and very funny. These,

and other victories, like winning the Congressional Cup twice in
a row put Perry into the Sailing World Hall of Fame.

Now, when Dave Perry speaks, smart sailors listen. He opens
