Classical Evolution is bringing chamber music home. We play in the last places
youd expect to hear classical music where you can have a bte to eat, experience
visual art, sit under a tree, look at the stars.

We bring together world famous soloists with professional orchestral musicians,

students and brave amateurs on an equal platform to perform deeply loved
repertoire, brand new fresh-off-the-page compositions and everything in between.

We play in rock venues, forests, art galleries, beer tents, cafs- anywhere that
gives our audiences a unique experience of classical music.

Courses for Professional Musicians

Chamber Music

Classical Evolution is fortunate to have some of the UKs finest chamber musicians
coming to coach at the International Anthony Burgess Foundation including Martin
Roscoe, Benedict Holland, Lisete da Silva, Daniel Grimwood etc. If you have an
existing ensemble or would like to play with other musicians in an informal but
intensive day, we can arrange an ensemble, concentrate on specific repertoire.
Whether you are at the beginning of your career or would like to rediscover your
love for chamber music, get in touch.

Improvisation for Classical Musicians

Its the I word. Lots of classical musicians find improvisation frankly terrifying. Our
training usually did not allow for it and we have missed out on a tradition that was
normal when most of the great composers were writing. We would like to give
musicians the opportunity to play with some of the best non-classical musicians
around to give them an insight into jazz, indian music, flamenco and tango to
safely explore the avenues opened up by throwing away the dots and playing the
first thing that comes into your head. We will also be running courses in Baroque
and Classical improvisation with experts in the field. As ever, it will be a safe,
friendly environment that could open up a whole new aspect of your playing.

Protecting Your Emotional Health

Our field can be a tough one. We love our job but there are times when we all
struggle with the instability of the field, the pressure we put on ourselves, the
expectation to be constantly seen to be busy. Learn coping mechanisms to use in
your everyday life drawing from disciplines of meditation, CBT and life coaching,
and find confidential peer support.

Teaching music in our schools is the grassroots of our musical heritage. The
profession is undergoing profound changes that can prove challenging when
dealing with a busy teaching and playing career. Receive support in:

Chamber music courses for amateur musicians

All courses include Heathers homemade bread and soup, follow up advice and
support and information on our many informal chamber music concerts
throughout the North. We also offer performance opportunities for every level of
performance.

Rusty returners

Did you play an instrument as a child and regret giving up? Have you always
wanted to play an instrument and never had the opportunity? Come and find
ensemble playing at levels to meet the needs of absolute beginners. We can help
repair an instrument that has been sat in a cupboard for too many years, find you
a great teacher from our wonderful Classical Evolution Players, get help with your
technique, answer any questions you may have and meet people who love to play.

Chamber music days

Amateur orchestras are the unsung cornerstone of our musical heritage. We would
like to offer chamber music courses at all levels with some of the best chamber
music teachers in the land. We can offer you help with technique if you need it
brushing up a bit, coaching on repertoire from duos to octets in a relaxed but
focused environment. Coaches so far have included Benedict Holland and Martin
Roscoe. We also invite musicians to mentor younger musicians at the beginning of
their careers who would benefit enormously from your wealth of experience.
