The 10th Australasian Masonry Conference is being hosted by The University of Newcastle and Think
Brick Australia and is being held at the ParkRoyal Hotel, Darling Harbour, Sydney, from 11-14
February, 2018.

The AMC series began in 1991, first hosted by The University of Newcastle and, over the past 27
years, has grown into the leading forum in the Australasian region for the exchange of ideas between
representatives across the masonry industry. In this 10th Edition, we hope to address many of the
challenges associated with managing the large population of existing masonry buildings, including
many wonderful examples contributing to our built cultural heritage. In addition, we will share the
innovations and discuss the challenges surrounding the use and reuse of masonry products in new
construction. The scope will include applications using all masonry products, including bricks, blocks
and pavers.

It is the strong intention of the organising committee that the 10AMC attracts delegates from all facets
of the masonry industry including researchers, educators and practitioners from the fields of
Architecture, Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction as well as Building Management
Authorities. We welcome both author and non-author delegates from the Australasian region and
across the globe. For aspiring authors we invite original contributions across all aspects of masonry
materials, architectural and structural design, detailing and construction.

The scope of the conference includes, but is not limited to:

Architectural design and detailing

Structural behaviour of masonry

Experimental testing

Analysis, design and design codes

Materials technology, new materials and new techniques

Innovative use and reuse of masonry products

Historical and other case studies

Conservation, repair, retrofit and strengthening

Energy performance and sustainability

Deterioration and durability

Masonry faades and veneers

Research and applications in masonry paving

All submitted papers will be independently peer reviewed by two members of the technical review
committee before being published in the conference proceedings. We hope the 10AMC will help to
ensure that Australasian expertise in masonry research and practice remains at the highest level by
international standards.
