PROFESSIONAL PROJECT DETAILS

1. MS Market – Web based Procurement Tool
Client :- Microsoft
Period :- Oct 2008-till date
Technology :- ASP, .NET, SQL Server 2005, IIS 6

Description :- MS Market is a Web-based ordering system that provides employees with a quick and easy
way to order materials and vendor services through the corporate Intranet. The mission of MS Market is to
reduce the internal cost of purchasing. MS Market has turned out to be one of Microsoft’s most mission critical
systems. Over US$1.6 billion is spent through the MS Market system annually. The system is available to
Microsoft employees worldwide with over 1,000 online orders placed each day. Approximately 99% of all U.S.
purchases are placed through the MS Market Web site. MS Market was initially deployed in the United States
and Canada. Now, it serves over 70,000 employees in 120 + countries.
An order in MS Market can be created either by selecting a product from the vendor Catalog or by going to a
third party site like (‘Dell’,’Lenovo’,’HP’etc) and generating an invoice. After the order is validated in MS
Market it is pushed to SAP and the vendor gets acknowledgment via SAP. Recently MS Market is being
migrated to .NET 3.5 using WCF Services platform.
Primary Responsibilities:-
• Inspection of the new requirements.
• Test Case Management for the Application using Product Studio as well as Visual Studio.
• Functional Testing including both Black Box as well as White Box Testing
• Performance Testing
• Services Testing for MS Market .NET Migration
• Security Testing for MS Market .NET Migration
• Automation of new requirements and maintenance of existing automation suite
• SAP Setup, verification and Interaction
• IDOCs generation and End to End Testing for the same.
• Proper Defect Logging , Triage and maintenance.
• Build Deployment and Environment maintenance.
• Generation of Weekly Status Report from entire test.
Major Contribution:-
 • Apart from testing , Developed & Automated Company Code Implementations for my project and
thus eliminating the need for developers & even Project Mangers for this business requirement which
significantly reduced the effort.
• Individually Tested MS Market WCF Services for .NET Migration and reported many critical issues.
• Performed the “Services Testing” for MS Market .NET Migration.
• Major contribution in .NET Migration for MS Market and performed Performance Testing ,
Functional Testing , DB Testing , Rollback Testing for the same.
• Performed Heuristic Testing for MS Market Search functionality and recommended a new Search
screen for the same.
• Built an expertise on SAP t-codes and documented the same for my project. Now I am
responsible for interacting and working on SAP from my project.
• Have performed the “UI Code Coverage” for MS Market and gave many recommendations to
dev for removal of dead code and also to test for increasing the “Test Coverage”
• Was individually given responsibility of testing a new Travel Port “Traversa” which got
integrated to MS market. All Microsoft US Travel is managed by this travelport.
• Interacted with the external Teams like “Dell” , “Staples” etc when a new requirement comes
and have addressed many issues in early phases of the Requirement finalization.
• Have single handedly tested many Business Critical requirements and delivered with 0 Defects in
Production.
• Have built an expertise on Application and have coached many new Senior members in our team and
have been rewarded for the same.
• Prepared the Automation Test Data and Test Automation BVT and Integration Testing Suite using
WTT jobs.
• Have worked on Batch jobs setup during the server migration and responsible for testing them.
2. Defect Compliance – SSRS Based Reporting Application developed for carrying Audit
Client :- Microsoft
Period :- July 2009-till date
Technology :- SQL Server 2005 Reporting Server 2005, Visual Studio 2005

Description :- Defect Compliance was an initiative started by me and my manager to ensure a proper
logging and resolving process for the bugs. We wanted the bugs to be logged with all the required fields so that
they are self-explanatory. Also once a Developer resolves that bug we wanted him to provide necessary details
including the “Root Cause” & “Prevention Steps” for the same. This data can later be used for doing a Root
Cause Analysis so that we can address them in future.
Role :-
• Conducted brainstorming sessions with Senior employees(across India & Redmond) and formed certain
Defect Compliance guidelines.
• Responsible for doing a monthly Audit for all the Apps in my Department.
• For the same individually designed & developed a Dashboard using SSRS and this report is used by
all the employees in my department to identify where the guidelines are not being followed.
• Worked extensively complex SQL Queries as well as stored procedures for generating SSRS reports.
• Created complex reports from combinations of various Data Sources like SQL , Excel , XML.
• Seeing the success of this process was asked to do an Audit for other departments in my organization.
Now I am doing the audit for 3 departments and have enhanced my SSRS reports for the same.

OTHER SIGNIFICANT WORK AT MICROSOFT

• A member of “Heuristic Testing” core team from my department. Have done heuristic Testing for
various projects and have recommended a better design for the UI.
• Responsible for doing the LOB Testing for my Application.
• Did Dogfooding of various Microsoft products like Visual Studio 2010 , Win 7 , IE8 , Office 14 , IE
9. Have reported many issues in IE 9 which will be fixed in the future builds of IE 9.
• Member of DPE Academia – Partner and Evangelism team and have given sessions on Visual
Studio 2010.
• Initiated VSTF Cleanup activity under which triaged with PMs and Devs for the old bugs and made
the VSTF clean and maintainable.
• Part of the Microsoft “Giving” team and for the same have done some social service like painting
school walls , teaching school students , helping in eye checkups for the blind.
 • Member of “FUN” Core Team of my department and organized many events like Volleyball ,Quiz ,
Kho – Kho , Rangoli for my Department.
