of the Human Body

Digestive System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to break down food so it can give

you energy.

Organs in the system:

Stomach
Large intestine
Small intestine
Mouth
Esophagus

Interesting fact:The digestive tract in an adult is 30 feet long.

Circulatory System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to transport oxygen to all of your

cells.

Organs in the system:

heart
veins
arteries

Interesting fact:The heart beats 70000 times a day.

Respiratory System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to breathe in oxygen and to

Breathe out carbon dioxide.

Organs in the system:

Lungs
Trachea
Nose

Interesting fact:The right lung is slightly larger than the

Left lung
Nervous System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to send messages to your

brain

Organs in the system:

brain
Spinal cord
neurons

Interesting fact:The human brain alone consists of about a 100 billion neurons
Skeletal System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to protect your organs and

it gives you structure and makes blood cells

Organs in the system:

cranium
Rib cage
femur

Interesting fact:there are 206 bones in your body

Muscular System
Function of the system necessary for life:

The job of this system is to help your bones move.

Organs in the system:

Skeletal muscles
Cardiac muscles
Smooth muscles

Interesting fact:Muscles make 40% of your weight

How do the systems work together to maintain the
health and fitness of the human body?
Provide at least 3 detailed examples of how the body systems work together.

1. The skeletal system and the muscular system work together because the muscles move the skeletal
system and the skeletal system gives the muscular system support .

2. The respiratory system and circulatory system because the respiratory system gives the circulatory
system oxygen so it can give all your cells oxygen.

3. The nervous system and the circulatory system because the nervous system tells your heart to pump
and when your heart pumps your blood cells move.
