BNURS 521 Methods of Research in Nursing (3 credits) Autumn 2003, Spring 2004, 2005, 2007, Builds on scholarly
inquiry and research knowledge gained in B NURS 520. Specific foci include measurement, study design, and data collection
issues as well as enhancing data analysis and interpretation abilities. Emphasizes application of scholarly inquiry methods in
nursing practice.
BNURS 521 Scholarly Inquiry for Nursing Practice (3 credits), Spring 2014.
BNURS 507 Advanced Nursing Roles (2 credits): Examines the wide variety of roles available to the graduate-level nurse,
including various roles in clinical practice and education. (2 sections, Winter 2011).
BNURS 503 Advanced Fieldwork (1-6 credits) 2003-2009; 2010-2011; 2012-2013, 2013-2014
Advanced fieldwork offers an opportunity t apply concepts examined throughout the program in the real-world context of
communities, healthcare systems, staff development or educational settings. The focus is on preparing students for advanced
nursing roles in communities, population-based care, management in health care systems, or education.

BURNS 598 Scholarly Project (1-6 credits) 2004-2008; 2010-201; 2013-2014


Fulfills the requirements of the non-thesis options for Masters Students in nursing. Projects involve scholarly inquiry with
in-depth focused analysis, culminating in a written product/report for dissemination. The Scholarly Project serves as the
Capstone of the MN program. Fieldwork & electives may support the scholarly project.

BNURS 350 Critical Thinking in Nursing (5 credits). Autumn 2007, 2009, 2012, 2013 (Mount Vernon), This course
focuses on the types of thinking and writing important to learning and practice in nursing including self assessment,
understanding and producing written communication, abstract thinking, group dialogue, evaluating points of view, problem
solving, and clinical decision making.
BNURS 403 Evidence Based Practice for Clinical Inquiry (5 credits), Winter 2014; Spring 2014 (Everett)
BNURS 409 Nursing Strategies for Community as Client (6 credits). Winter/Spring 2003
Clinical course. Emphasis on application of interpersonal and clinical therapies; on coordination of community resources; on
effectiveness of educational interventions; and on characteristics of nursing practice in community settings. Supervised
students in gerontologic nursing settings including Senior Centers, Retirement Communities, Home Health Care, Hospice
Care Assisted Living Facilities and Adult Family Homes.
