Pangasinan village chief,

family killed in ambush

DAGUPAN CITY A village chief of Santa Barbara town in Pangasinan


province and members of his family were killed on Tuesday night (Nov. 29) by
motorcycle riding gunmen.

Cecilio Ballesteros, barangay (village) captain of Banzal, his son Brian Jose, his
brother Dionisio, and his brother-in-law Manuel Aquino headed home in
a tricycle when they were attacked as they crossed the Malanay Bridge in
Malanay village, police said.

Ballesteros suffered multiple gunshots in the different parts of his body and died
inside the tricycle.

His son, brother and brother-in-law were shot and killed as they fled from the
tricycle.

The police is still determining the motive behind the ambush.

CABANATUAN CITY A policeman and a male companion were killed by unidentified gunmen
who ambushed them on Sunday night (Dec. 4), a belated police report stated.

PO1 Luis Cordova III and the backrider of his motorcycle were shot dead by the gunmen at
10:30 p.m. in Purok Perigola, Barangay (village) Valdefuente.

A closed circuit television camera caught a pick-up truck speeding away from the crime scene. It
might have been used as a getaway vehicle by the killers, police said.

Cordova was detailed at the Nueva Ecija polices provincial public safety company (PPSC), said
Supt. Ponciano Zafra, city police chief. Police have not been able to identify the policemans
slain passenger, who was carrying .22 revolver and two small plastic sachets containing a still-
undetermined substance. Cordova was armed with his service pistol.

MANILA Two bodies wrapped in packaging tape and garbage bags turned up in
Barangay Pio del Pilar in Makati City early Thursday.

Investigators said the placards found with each body contained hashtags in millennial-
speak #nagmahal #nagbasag kotse #nagtulak #namatay (#loved #broke into cars #pushed
drugs #died) and #nagmahal #nasaktan #nagtulak #namatay (#loved #hurt #pushed drugs
#died)

A female resident alerted the barangay (village) officials about two suspicious-looking
garbage bags at the corner of Estacion Street and Arnaiz Avenue (Pasay Road) around 1:15
a.m. on Thursday, the Southern Police District said.

Responding policemen found two male bodies inside the bags who were hogtied and
wrapped with packaging tape.

The victims were estimated to be between 40 and 45 years old. One of them was
wearing a gray T-shirt and pants, while the other one was wearing an undershirt and khaki
pants.

Eleven casings and a slug believed to be from a .45-pistol were recovered by crime
scene operatives.

The bodies were brought to the Veronica Funeral Homes for autopsy and safekeeping
pending their identification.
