140Mbit/s, STM-1 electrical,
Optical Repeater (MOR/MOR+).
STM-1 and STM-4 optical.
It provides a full complement
of network survivability features
including: revertive (1:1 or 1:N,
N=1 to 14) or non-revertive (1+1)
automatic protection switching
schemes and 1:N,1+1 full STM16
protected. Tributary protection is
also available for all tributary types
and matched nodes provides inter-
ring connection protection. These
combinations of network and
tributary protection schemes allow
operators to offer high Service
Level Agreements (SLAs) to their
customers.
Supporting industry standard
ITU-T G.803, the TN-16X
multiplexer has bi-directional
self-healing ring topologies
(MS-SPRings), allowing protection
capacity to be shared, resulting in a
higher utilisation of the ring
capacity when compared with path
switched dedicated protection
rings. Ring utilisation
improvements of around 70% are
achieved with typical traffic flow
(greater with uniform traffic
patterns). These improvements
lead to a decrease in the cost of
carriage for revenue earning
services. Ring switch times of less
than 50ms are achieved ensuring
service reliability is maintained
during a cable break.
Software download and dynamic
routing features ensure that
hardware and software changes to
elements and networks can be
achieved quickly, reliably and with
no impact on traffic.

and can economically grow to
meet market requirements.
Network extreme survivability
The operator can offer high Service
Level Agreements (SLAs) due to
the extreme survivability of a TN-
16X based network. A combination
of MS-SPRing and matched nodes
allows multiple failure points while
maintaining traffic. It is possible to
have a fault on each ring and also a
fault at each ring interconnect and
still have traffic survive. This
contrasts with dedicated protection
schemes where there are two
separate paths through the
network, and hence a single fault
on each path breaks traffic. It is
also possible to connect the
customer via two geographically
diverse fibres onto the network,
hence further increasing survivability.
Operational costs are reduced since
faults can be fixed during normal
operation hours.
