Deadline April 1, 2013

Dear NEST members,

In recognition of outstanding young science and math students, we invite you to nominate a
student who you feel meets the selection criteria established by the Network of Educators in Science
and Technology.

Instructions: Please read carefully:

1. All categories must be completed and the form received by the final deadline of April 1.

2. NEST encourages each teacher to work with their schools to provide an award ceremony for
their student.

3. NEST invites each school to send a press release to their local newspaper.

4. Please return your nomination via email to Lauren McNamara by April 1 at

lmcnamara@mit.edu or via regular mail to the following address:

NEST Student Awards | Lauren McNamara, Program Manager

MIT | 20 Ames St., Room E15-301 | Cambridge, MA 02142

Selection Criteria (please take these points into consideration when composing your letter of nomination)

The award is given to a student who, through personal initiative, has done the most to promote
awareness of science or technology.
The award recognizes not only what the student has accomplished, but the future potential of that
student.
Student initiative in either the school or the larger community should be a very important consideration.
The award does not necessarily have to be given to the student with the highest rank.
The award is not restricted to any one-grade level.
PLEASE INCLUDE YOUR SCHOOL ADDRESS SO I KNOW WHERE TO SEND THE AWARD!!!
