Vibration Analysis On Belt and Pulley Misalignment

The Shaft Alignment, Belt or Pulley Alignment are very important

aspects in machine lifecycle and the production industry houses. When these
are carried out properly, it can prevent frequent breakdowns and save the
costs of machinery considerably to a great extent. Belt and Pulley alignment
are synonymous to each other yet they are represented at a different level of
environment. The belt alignment hinges on the correct pulley alignment but
it is not the case vice-versa. Belt alignment is responsible in driving the
remaining pulleys of the machine with the help of the driver pulley and for
this, a perfect belt alignment is very much recommended. The pulley
alignment is required at level of grooves that intact contact with the motors
of the heavy machines. Both the belt and pulley together drives a Balancing
Machine to produce the required output with an effective cost.

What Happens When the Alignment Is Altered?

Misalignment could be distinguished into three major categories, the first

being Vertical misalignment, the second horizontal misalignment, and third is
the parallel misalignment. Regardless of the nature of the misalignment, the
results would definite bring an increase in the vibration level characterized
by a heavy noise. These misalignments could be incurred at the pulley side
or at the belt side but the resultant remains the same.

Vibration Analysis is a tool that is used for testing and inspecting

vibrations and oscillations in machines and its components. These vibration
analyzers are used in varied industries like manufacturing production
facilities, product development laboratories, construction sites, etc. This
analyzer uses the machines axis of rotation to have the count of vibrations.
If there is any unbalance in rotation and this analyzer captures it, the rotor is
exchanged with the machines that have a downtime. Measurements
obtained by this analyzer helps in finding out the other parameter of the
machine such as the vibration acceleration, velocity and also the vibration
displacement. Vibrations should be recorded with a great precision to have
the analysis accurately. The measurement Vibration Analyzer and the
study of these vibrations can result in the reduction of resonance in the
machine. The periodic variations in the vibration level of the belt or pulley
misalignment could lead to a friction full rotation of the pulley making the
efficiency and productivity go lower, and the machines durability could get
downgraded and finally the machine ends up in breakdown stage.
