1) Rank the sources you cited on your infographic from Most Reliable and Least Biased to

Least Reliable and Most Biased. Provide an explanation for your ranking scheme.

I would rate it more on a 19 scale or 20 because I mostly found cite that were from the Forest
Service and Ranger studying about what the beetle are doing and what they are doing right now
to control them and how to prevent them from spreading more rapidly from how the forest is
dying and what can do to either kill or slow the beetle down from attacking the forest.

2) Classify all of the sources cited on your infographic as primary, secondary or tertiary. Explain
the rationale for your classification for each source.

The sources that I have cited were both primary and secondary and the reason why was because
some cite were found by the forest service but some university used the forest service study and
put it on their web site but would have the cite from what they used.

What is the role of scientists and engineers in society? In what ways is life as we know it
better (or worse) because of their work either in basic scientific research or the
development of implementable technologies?

Scientists and engineers study about whats going on in the world. This is important because
they can see how our world is evolving and can measure our impact over the years. Scientists
study the natural systems of the world so that we can understand the world better. They also
solve problems such as climate change. They work to improve technology to make it more
energy efficient and accurate. Scientists and engineers make our lives better as they give new
information out to the world and tell us about their discoveries. They can also show us new
paths in energy efficiency and technologies for energy or infrastructure development. For
example, civil engineers create good structures for our daily lives.

In your opinion, what is the role of innovation in the development of new cleaner energy
production/consumption technologies in reducing the amount of carbon dioxide and other
greenhouse gases released into the environment?

Innovation can give us new ideas about what we can do with renewable energy like wind, solar,
hydroelectric, biomass, natural gas. In regards to natural gas, we could be capturing a lot of
methane gas that is currently burned or released from oil rigs. We could be using this natural gas
to create electricity, keeping methane out of the atmosphere without having to extract any new
gas, simply by using a byproduct of an already existing system. This would be an example if
innovation that could take place within the field of clean energy development.
