3 Types of muscle cell ,,

- Cardiac muscle cell.

- Smooth muscle cell.
- Skeletal muscle cell.

Today, we will focus on this

type of muscle cell.
Tendon
- It is made up of collagen fibers.
- In Thai, we call
- Adjust forces between muscle tissue during movement to remain stable.

o n !
te n d
Thi s is
Epimysium
It connects tissue that surround the entire muscle organ
Perimysium
- contain blood vessel and nerve that provide nutrient and regulate contraction

- contains mainly collagen, but also intra-muscular fat

- sheath of connective tissue that groups muscle fibers into bundles

Endomysium
Connective tissue that surround individual muscle fiber or cell

Tiny blood vessel that provide nutrient.

Fascicle
- Each fascicle is surrounded by a connective tissue
- It is a package of muscle fiber (muscle cells)
Location of Skeletal muscle cell

The skeletal muscle cell is mostly attach to the bone because it will help the
movement of body in many parts for example:

- Attach to bones by tendons

- Attach to skin
- Attach to skull : protect brain
- Attach to spine : protects spinal cord
- Attach to rib cage : protects internal organs
Function
- Control all movement of body by turning chemical potential energy
into mechanical energy.
- Hold the bone in place and prevent the joint from dislocation
- Control movements
- Support body structure
- Heat Production homeostasis
Shape, Why it has this shape?
Its shape look like long Fibers and cylinder. Skeletal muscle cell has different
shape from another muscle cell
because they need to contract
together.

How shape of cell affect function?

It have long shape because it can extend along with the body movement by the
two types of fiber which will slide past each others which is actin and myosin.
Structure of skeletal muscle cell

Multinucleated nucleus

2 nucleus ; Rise from the

combine of myoblasts, which is
the immature cell that becomes a
cell of muscle fiber.
Sarcolemma
Muscle fiber membrane or
cell membrane.

It function is protect the cell

and hold the cell in this
shape.
Myofibril

Pack together with a lot of

mitochondria and sarcoplasmic
reticulums.
Composed of protein molecules
called Myofilament.
Sarcomere

Sarcomeres are sections of

Myofibrils that contain two protein
strands (Actin and Myosin).

They had been divided by Z-line,

which shows how wide are them.
Myofilament
Are the filaments of myofibrils, constructed from proteins
Thick filament contain myosin dark band.
Thin filament contain actin light band.
Actin and Myosin are contractile protein
that cause muscle shortening when they
interact each other, making the muscle
pull our bones to move the body.

When Myosin wants to interact with Actin, they need ATP and Calcium ions
in order to do so.
Sarcoplasmic Reticulum

It is a wide internal membrane system

It name sounds like endonplasmic reticulums(ER) and it function is

more like SER

Function: It is store calcium ions which is used for the muscle

contraction.
Specialized organelles of this cell

-Skeletal muscle cells contain more mitochondria than other cells because they
need them for energy to function themselves, as well as contraction between Actin
and Myosin in the Sarcomere.

-It have special filaments to enable the skeletal muscles to contract (Actin &
Myosin).

-Sarcoplasmic Reticulum is a wide internal membrane system and it used to store

calcium ions which used to do muscle contraction.

-It have no ribosome because it received protein from outside of the cell.
Do they have their own personal nerves, arteries and veins?

Yes, they do need their own personal nerves, arteries and veins because
they are quite greedy.

These cells needs these things for:

1. To stimulate the contraction
2. To well feed themselves and
prepare for their action
How these cells help keep us alive?
Without them, we will lost one of characteristic of life; movement.
And without movement, we will be unable to perform any activities, including
eating food, and can result us as death.
What are the malfunction of this type of cell?

Cramps
Atrophy
Fibrositis

These are an example of malfunction in skeletal muscle cell.

Cramps
Happened when the muscle doesnt relax after flexation had done.
Commonly found after exercises, such as running.
To cure cramps, you can do stretching on the position that you
got cramp. You can also prevent cramp by doing the same thing
before perform an activity.
Fibrositis
Can happen only in Skeletal muscle cell
Happened from the inflammation/pain between the muscle and the bones;
causing muscular injury, stress and sleep disturbances
Can cure by gentle message, regular exercises, and avoid alcoholic & caffeine
drinks
Atrophy
Happened from lack of physical activities, malnutrition, drinking and
injuries
Aging, stroke and spinal cords can also cause the Atrophy
Can cure by physical therapy, exercises and surgeries
