Havaianas is a brand of flipflop sandals, which is currently owned by Brazilian footwear

manufacturingcompanyAlpargatas.ThefirstpairofHavaianaswasproducedin1962.Itwasinspired
bytheZori,typicalJapanesesandalsmadeoffabricstrapsandricestrawsoles.Itisforthisreason
that the footbed of all Havaianas have a textured rice pattern, one of its many unmistakable
features. Havaianas flipflops are the most popular in the world, with more than 150 million pairs
beingmadeeveryyear.Ithasastronginternationalpresenceinmorethan80countriesacrossthe
globe.AlpargatassellsthesandalsthroughdistributionchannelsusingpartnerDCdistributionmodel
underwhichretailersmayreturnunsoldunitstoAlpargatasforarefundorcredit.

Alpargatas is determined to strengthen Havaianas presence in Asia, given the regions strong
economicpotential.Thecompanyfirmlybelievesthatsoonerorlater,Asianmarketsandterritories
willpropeltheworldeconomy.

In the summer season of 2015, Alpargatas plans to introduce a special edition Havaianas in
Singapore, in line with its Independence Day; Singapore will celebrate its 50th anniversary on 9th
August 2015. Special edition independence daythemed Havaianas will be made available in the
respective markets for the period of June to September (equivalent to the summer season in the
fashionapparelindustries).Thesespecialeditionsandalsareexpectedtobereleasedattheendof
June,whichcorrespondstoWeek5inAlpargatasinternaltimeframe.

Forthisspecialeditionlineoffootwear,AlpargataswillreleasethreetypesofHavaianasHavaianas
Red,HavaianasWhite,andHavaianasMix(RedandWhite).Thisisinlinewiththeflagdesignsofboth
countries,whicharedominatedwithredandwhite.

Last year, Alpargatas released a similar product in celebration of Singapores 49th anniversary.
