 ABSTRACT

Scanmarker is an innovation that transfer the hardcopy text into your computer effortless. It was

invented by Reuven Regev to lessen the hefty way to collect important data that needed to be

study or memorize, which is a solution to his problem as a reader of countless books for his

Social Psychology class and highlighting hundreds of key points with his highlighter.

Scanmarker is a versatile device on its functions and applications such as Text-to-Speech,

Image reader, Multi Language Translation and many more. This is very useful in many ways that

you dont think it could be used for like enhancing text comprehension, personal reading guide

and pronunciation.

From its name alone, you will have an idea on what it is for. Scanmarkers simple, yet

advanced, utilizes complicated image processing algorithms that recognize everything that you

want to scan. All of its superior capability can be brought everywhere you want, as it is portable

which doesnt need any energy sources like power outlet when in use.

NEW TECHNOLOGICAL LEARNING AID

I. INTRODUCTION

Typing and Scanning is prevalent and vital to lives of researchers, students etc. Typing is a

method of writing by entering text in terms keys on a typewriter, cell phone or computer

keyboard. Scanning allows personal computer to convert whats copied into a picture format that

can preserve documents. In order to type in details and to apprehend the gist of what we are

typing, reading takes its place. Nowadays, students are easily getting infuriated when lots of

paper works, such researches and reports that uses different kinds of textbooks, details on

different pages and to scan and photocopy whole thing where in fact, only series of sentences are

ones needed. Literally, it consumes money, time and effort and productivity. The relevance of

typing, reading and scanning conveyed a creative idea to put into technology. Engineers and

professionals designed a device that is a time conserving, enables scanning, versatile, and a

translator. The new technology that enables typing, scanning and reading all at once.

The purpose of this report is to present the current application, design, versatility, and

productivity for ScanMarker. To see technically how advancing and progressing scanners

nowadays, a side by side comparison with current scanners will be used. An advanced

technology that uses sensors that can scanned images and display editable text format by sliding

the device. This report will provide

introduction, and background to determine the status and reviews in terms in sales and

productivity of ScanMarker to the public.

This report is divided into 4 general parts namely (I) Introduction, (II) ScanMarker Technology

Review, (III) Advantages And Disadvantages Of ScanMarker and (IV) ScanMarker Project. In

scanmarker technology review, it composes of following: the development background of the

ScanMarker Technology, the certain application, the comparison between scanner and

ScanMarker functionally and physically and the operation cycle of ScanMarker. Finally, the

status and reviews of ScanMarker upon technology release is described in ScanMark Project.

 II. SCANMARKER TECHNOLOGY OVERVIEW

Before getting into the details of manufacturing ScanMarker and their applications and market

potential, consider their basic construction and comparisons to Optical Scanners.

Uses of ScanMarker

Scanmarker can easily transfer your hardcopy text you have highlighted using the

Scanmaker into your computer quickly.

It can also scan image or logo and transfer it to your computer using an advanced image

processing algorithms.
This innovative product has many variety of purpose, which are:

Development of ScanMarker Technology

Scanmarker was founded in the year 2006 by Reuven Regev to acquire a solution to a problem

for people who use highlighter a lot, which is to save time by eliminating the tiresome step of

retyping the text with bare hand. While it seems that Scanmarker is as simple as a normal

scanner, Scanmarker doesnt need expensive, complicated mechanical components such as gears.

It scans and captures printed text as a raw image, then renders it into a high quality image, then

processes it with optical character recognition (OCR) software. This portable device may seem

function simply to produce image, the mechanism to obtain these outcomes are quite

complicated when it comes to technology.

The evolution of technology over the years is paying off by these new innovations that helps us

be more productive because of the time that we save from the technologies that makes our work

a lot easier. The advancement of technology is a big role in the making of Scanmarker, its

advanced technology allows a fast and remarkably accurate identification of multiple languages

and instantly make it editable text as if you had manually typed it. So far 40 languages are

supported in Scanmarker, meaning, you can translate your scanned text into 40 different

languages.

As mentioned before, one of the primary goals of ScanMarker is to provide faster use than

optical scanner offers. To demonstrate the advances afforded using ScanMarker, this section will

The key features, which comprise the difference between ScanMarker and Optical Scanner, are

the physical characteristics, data structure characteristics, and operating characteristics.

Physical Characteristics

The physical characteristics of the optical scanner including thickness, diameter and structure

have a big difference because the ScanMarker is small like a highlighter. But, the two technology

have a similar use.

Operating Cycle Of ScanMarker System

The normal operating cycle of ScanMarker system is described by the following step and

procedures:

I. Install designated software and driver to your computer.

II. After installing connect the ScanMarker via usb cable or via Bluetooth.
III. Start scanning

Scanning Cycle:

1. Place the clear tip of the ScanMarker approximately in the middle of the the two sharp

ends of the clear tip. Get a little bit distance before the beginning of the line you wish to

scan. It can be seen from figure below.

2. Press slightly the transparent tip of the device as light click can be hear and light will

activate. Slide smoothly and lithely along the line you desire to scan. It can be seen from

the figure below.

3. Keep the scanned line between the tip of the ScanMarker, Avoid scanning too slowly to

avoid errors. For better results, slide the ScanMarker slightly faster. It can be seen from

the figure below.

4. Avoid Pressing the ScanMarker too hard on page during scanning. Just simply click and

slide.

5. End your scanning movement after a line by releasing the pressed pressure while sliding.

 III. ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF THE SCANMARKER

In this report it can see that ScanMarker is an extraordinary invention of this era. All you have to

do is to just scan the ScanMarker across a line in your book, just as if you were using a

highlighter pen, and the text will be automatically transferred into a Word or Excel document or

into another application. It also has several modes to transfer data to your computer like Data

Entry (Scan & Paste), Multiple Language Translation, Text-To-Speech, Dictionary, Thesaurus, It

can even scan an image into your notes document, functions as a personal reading guide,

enhancing text comprehension, pronunciation, and reading autonomy for students and adults

with reading difficulties and many more Not like Optical Scanner it has a large form and

always need electricity whenever using it not edible to bring anywhere due to this. We therefore

conclude that It is an excellent tool for productivity, efficient in improving skills, portable,

versatile, and hassle-free for the student and the readers

The success of the release of this product could prosper more in the future if further studies and

research will be conducted. Upgrading some features and adding functions could attract more

consumers in the future.
