AKAPULKO

HOW TO USE AKAPULKO AS A MEDICINE?

A. For skin diseases


1. Pound Akapulko leaves.
2. Squeeze the juice.
3. Apply topically on affected area twice a day until cured.
B. For stomach problems
1. Pound or cut a cup of Akapulko seeds, Akapulko leaves and flowers into
manageable sizes.
2. Let it seep in boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes to create an Akapulko
herbal tea.
3. Let it cool and drink a cup three times a day.
C. As an ointment
1. Wash fresh leaves of Akapulko thoroughly and cut in small pieces.
2. Add one glass of cooking oil or coconut oil to one glass of cut fresh leaves.
3. Fry until crispy.
4. Remove from the heat; strain.
5. Cut 2 white candles into small pieces
6. In a cooking pot, pour the strained oil together with the candle pieces; stir until
the candle has melted.
7. Pour the mixture into a clean container; cover when cool.
8. Apply the Akapulko herbal ointment to affected areas twice daily.
AMPALAYA
HOW TO USE AMPALAYA AS A MEDICINE?

1. Select firm and light green in color of ampalaya.


2. Cut the ampalaya lengthwise and remove the seeds.
3. Chop the ampalaya into 1 inch cubes.
4. Place ampalaya cubes in the food processor and process using the pulse
function. In case your food processor doesnt have pulse button, process on high for
a few seconds at a time.
5. Scrape the sides of the food processor as needed and pulse again until
ampalaya is liquefied.
6. Place the cheesecloth over a bowl and pour the liquefied ampalaya into the cloth
to strain out the solids.
7. Squeeze to release as much juice as possible into the bowl.
8. Store ampalaya juice in a closed glass container in the refrigerator. It can be
used for a week.
BAWANG
HOW TO USE BAWANG AS A MEDICINE?

A. For disinfecting wound


1. Crush the bulb.
2. Juice the crushed bulb.
3. Apply to the wounded area and cover with gauze.
B. For colds
1. Take two cloves of raw garlic at the first sign of a cold.
2. Mash them or chop finely and mix with food, or cut cloves into chunks and
swallow them whole like pills (if you don't chew, the garlic won't stay on your
breath).
3. Take two cloves per day for chronic or recurrent yeast infections or low
resistance to infection.
BAYABAS
HOW TO USE BAYABAS AS A MEDICINE?

A. For skin diseases


1. Gather fresh bayabas leaves and wash with water.
2. Boil one cup of Bayabas leaves in three cups of water for 8 to 10 minutes.
3. Strain and let cool.
4. To use as mouthwash, gargle
5. To use as wound disinfectant, wash affected areas 2 to 3 times a day.
6. Use as vaginal wash especially after child birth.
B. For stomach problems
1. Gather fresh Bayabas leaves,
2. Boil chopped pieces of about 4 to 6 tablespoon for every 18 ounces of water.
3. Strain and let cool.
4. Drink cup of decoction every 3-4 hours until symptoms improve.
LAGUNDI
HOW TO USE LAGUNDI AS A MEDICINE?

A. First Way
1. Boil half cup of chopped fresh or dried leaves in 2 cups of water for 10 to 15
minutes. Drink half cup three times a day.
2. The lagundi flowers are also good for diarrhea and fever. Boil as with the
leaves.
3. The root is specially good for treating dyspepsia, worms, boils, colic and
rheumatism.
B. Second Way
1. Wash fresh or dried Lagundi leaves
2. Chop then add in 4 cups of water for every 1 cup of lagundi parts
3. Let it boil for 10 to 15 minutes
4. Let it steep then strain the various parts.
5. Drink half cup of Lagundi three times a day.
NIYOG-NIYOGAN
HOW TO USE NIYOG-NIYOGAN AS A MEDICINE?

1. Seeds of niyog-niyogan can be taken as an anthelmintic.


2. These are eaten raw two hours before the patients last meal of the day. Adults
may take 10 seeds while children 4 to 7 years of age may eat up to four seeds
only. Children from ages 8 to 9 may take six seeds and seven seeds may be
eaten by children 10 to 12 years old.
3. Decoctions of its roots are also sometimes used as a remedy for rheumatism
while its fruits are used as an effective way to relieve toothaches.
SAMBONG
HOW TO USE SAMBONG AS A MEDICINE?

A. As a tea
1. Gather fresh sambong leaves, cut in small pieces
2. Wash with fresh water
3. Boil 50 grams of sambong leaves to a liter of water
4. Let it seep for 10 minutes
5. Remove from heat
6. Drink while warm 4 glasses a day for best results.

B. As a poultice
1. Gather fresh leaves and roots
2. Wash with fresh clean water
3. Pound in a mortar
4. Grounded leaves may be applied or a juice extract may be used
TSAANG GUBAT
HOW TO USE TSAANG GUBAT AS A MEDICINE?

A. For allergy and skin disinfectant


1. Pound tsaang leaves
2. Boil in water and let it seep.
3. When still warm to touch wash to the affected area.
B. For stomach problems
1. Pound or cut a cup of tsaang gubat leaves into manageable sizes then let it
seep in boiling water for 10 to 15 minutes to create a tsaang gubat herbal tea.
2. Let it cool and drink a cup three times a day. The potency of tsaang gubat
herbal tea is good to last for one day. Make new tsaang gubat herbal tea as
needed
C. For mouth problems
For the treatment of mouth infections such as stomatitis, gargle the tsaang gubat
herbal tea three times a day until symptoms improve. If symptoms persist and
irritation occurs, stop the use and consult your doctor..
PANSIT-PANSITAN
HOW TO USE PANSIT-PANSITAN AS A MEDICINE?

A. For herbal treatment


Pound the leaves and/or the stalks and make a poultice (boil in water for a
minute or two then pounded) then applied directly to the afflicted area. Likewise a
decoction can be used as a rinse to treat skin disorders.
B. For headaches
1. Heat a couple of leaves in hot water
2. Bruise the surface and apply on the forehead. The decoction of leaves and
stalks is also good for abdominal pains and kidney problems.
3. Like any herbal medicine it is not advisable to take any other medication in
combination with any herbs. Consult with a medical practitioner
knowledgeable in herbal medicine before any treatment.
YERBA-BUENA
HOW TO USE YERBA-BUENA AS A MEDICINE?

1. Dry Yerba buena leaves for about two weeks

2. Crush Yerba buena leaves into pieces

3. Boil the dried Yerba buena leaves in water.

4. 2 tablespoon of dried Yerba buena leaves to one cup water.

5. Let it seep for 30 minutes,

6. Strain the leaves.

7. Take the Yerba buena herbal tea for 4 to 6 times daily.
