The cut to the left is an end view of our staved column, showing our
lock joint, which prevents the staves from opening and also increases the

glueing surface. We use the best grade of waterproof glue obtainable.

The cut to the right will illustrate to you our method of connecting the
cap and base to the shaft of our stock columns. Both ends of the shaft are
bedded in Mastic Putty. This is our own idea and as far as we know is

not in use by any other manufacturer. By this means it makes it impossible

for water or moisture to get to the inside of our columns.

CARE OF VENEERED DOORS
All veneered doors require a small amount of attention
on receipt of same from manufacturer. It is to the pur
chaser s advantage to take note of the following directions:
All wood being of a porous nature, especially that
which has been thoroughly dried, readily absorbs moisture
from the air, causing it to swell. To overcome this:

First Keep doors in a dry place.

Second Give doors one or two coats of good oil filler.

Third Do
not place veneered doors in a freshly -
plastered building; see that the plaster is thoroughly dry.
Fourth When
the door has been fitted paint top and
bottom with good lead paint.

CARE OF STAVED COLUMNS

To get the best results from staved columns keep :

under cover until erected. Paint as soon as possible after

being put in position. If necessary to reduce height of
column by cutting off base of shaft, it is advisable to well
paint the end.
out-of-town shipments a small tin of mastic putty is
In
nailed to top of base. Contents of this tin should be
spread on top of turned base where shaft rests.

GREENHOUSE MATERIAL
This department has grown extensively and now forms
a very important part of our business.

One of the most important features in the manufacture

of greenhouse material is the kind and quality of the
lumber used. We
use exclusively Louisiana Gulf Coast
Red Cypress, air dried and free from sap. It is less af
fected by atmospheric conditions and has more desirable
qualities for greenhouse construction than any other.

Our long experience in the manufacture of greenhouse
