It gives me great pleasure to write this letter of recommendation for Grace Kim, for potential
teaching positions. I have known Grace for a number of years at the University of Arizona, in a
number of capacities. She has been first a student-colleague (as I was a graduate student while she
was an undergraduate), then a student of mine (in Choral Methods), and has also been a performer
under my direction (for several performance opportunities). I was able to observe Grace as she
prepared for Choral Methods teaching sessions. Her attention to musical detail for assigned duties
and coursework was first rate. She showed great potential in her lesson preparation and her
teaching ability, as she led the class of 29 of her peer students in choral rehearsals. She has also
eagerly sought out opportunities to perform and conduct choral groups in the Tucson area, giving
her a broad base of experience even before receiving her Bachelors degree.

Grace represents the finest in our new generation of choral conducting students, who will soon take
over the leadership of our profession and of ACDA as young conductors and teachers. She is a
tireless worker, always ready to help, and consistently looking for ways to make the choirs and
groups, with which she is associated, better musically or organizationally. Grace has always shown
an interest in learning more about our profession, in honing her skills as a conductor and music
educator, and in being involved in ACDA. She has made a great effort to attend ACDA conventions at
the state level, both student convocations and state conventions, regional level and national level.

In short, I would give Grace Kim my highest recommendation to be considered for a future teaching
