Sample Schedule

For an MIT 14-1 Single Major

Note that this sample schedule should just be used as a guideline. Most
students will deviate from it in a number of ways.

By the end of freshman year, a student should have completed calculus (2

semesters), physics (2 semesters), biology or chemistry, 14.01, 14.02, one
HASS subject, and one CI-H class.

^ 14.05 satisfies one CI-M class (14.18 must be taken for CI-M if student
does not take 14.05.)
# 14.30 satisfies the Institute requirement for one REST subject.
* 14.33 satisfies the Institute lab requirement and one CI-M class.
+ An econ elective can be substituted for the thesis.

Students must choose their HASS subjects so that their concentration of

three courses can be satisfied outside the department.

Keep in mind that a student must have completed 17 GIRs and 180 units to
graduate, so it is wise to check the bottom of the WEBSIS grade report at the
end of the term to be certain that adequate progress is being made.
