Dear Traci Conaway,

It is with great interest that I am submitting my application for the Recycling Services Intern position with
the City of Chandler. The ERIC program aligns perfectly with my personal goals to promote public well-
being and endorse environmental protection by advocating for sustainable measures into waste
management. You can expect that I will work diligently and collaboratively to increase participation in ERIC
and meet the diversion goals of the City of Chandler.

Outreach: Presently I am a research aid for ASU in the Sustainability & Happiness Research Lab, in
partnership with the Global Institute of Sustainability Initiatives. My current research here focuses
on creating strong connections in Tempe neighbors and fostering the development of sustainable
solutions to increase community resiliency. My introduction to the lab started with implementing a
pilot project in Phoenix for research on field formulated best practices in food system sustainability.
My involvement now incorporates a variety of fields including grassroots outreach, project
management, high level presentations with partners, composing and publishing findings in research
forums for public understanding.

Event Coordination: Prior to my experience in the sustainable research sector, I was able to work
for the Sierra Club. In 2013 I began this partnership by coordinating interns and volunteers with
local stakeholders to maintain relationships. During my progression with the Sierra Club, I gained
experience in R&D on city compost options as part of a campaign to focus on reducing greenhouse
gas contributors. It was my responsibility to communicate with a dynamic set of stakeholders and
coordinate meetings among these sectors in order to facilitate collaboration. I believe that this
background has giving me the skills for interacting across the board to communicate the City of
Chandlers recycling objectives.

Deliverables: In all of my experiences, the ability to process many parts of a project and pull
themes out of data has proven to be most crucial in creating meaningful deliverables. Most
recently, in my research with ASU, I was part of a team of researchers that conducted situational
analyses in three separate cities, and developed results, deliverables, and recommendations for all
stakeholders involved. Additionally, I provided a professional summary presentation and report of
data collected from our research to the Director of Allotments for the City of Exeter, including
strategy recommendations to enhance city-wide sustainability.

I am a strong advocate for sustainable waste management systems that factor in the future of our
generation as well as the ones that will precede us. I believe these programs have a great capacity for
impacting the community and being a leader in key solutions. I have attached my resume and would be
