The IStructE China Awards 2005

The IStructE China Awards 2005 were administrated by the Joint Structural Division of HKIE & IStructE
together with full support from IStructE local representatives in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen. Initial vetting
of the Awards took place successfully in November 2005 in Shanghai for projects in Beijing, Shanghai and
Shenzhen, and also in January 2006 in Hong Kong for Hong Kong projects. Final selection of the Awards was
conducted on 16 and 17 February 2006 in Hong Kong, and a total of ten outstanding construction projects were
presented by prominent structural engineers to the Judging Panel which was chaired by Mr Michael Dickson,
President of the IStructE. Upon the recommendations of the Judging Panel, the results were announced during
the Award Presentation Dinner on 17 February 2006.

of our structural engineers to projects in China.

This year, there are three submissions on Hong Kong Projects and five submissions on China Projects.
Three awards were selected by a Panel of Judges based on the following assessment criteria:

Aesthetics
Engineering approach
Integration
Economy
Innovation
Buildability
Unusual features
Energy efficiency and environmental friendliness
Sustainability and serviceability
