Bilateral fiber & textile trade among different countries

under MFA-Different treaties

Uruguay Round's 1995 Agreement on Textiles & Clothing (ATC) mandated

phase-out of import quotas sanctioned for decades under agreements like
1974 Multi-fiber Arrangement (MFA). Having access to bilateral trade data
across various products within fiber-textile sector lays foundation for better
understanding of trade patterns & can underpin analyses of potential changes
as policy environment evolves. This database provides information about
source-destination trade flows among 42 exporting & importing
country/regions on 43 fiber, textile, & clothing product aggregates on an
annual basis from 1992 to 2002.

Features
The World Bids Farewell to Multi-fiber Arrangement (MFA) (February 2006)
describes genesis & consequences of MFA & impacts of its removal. China,
India, & Pakistan are cotton-textile-exporting countries expected to benefit
most from MFA's demise. However, global cotton use is largely being driven
by other factors, such as income growth. For full report, see Forces Shaping
World Cotton Consumption after Multi-fiber Arrangement (April 2005).
