Beyond-the-Basic Productivity Tool Used: Poll Everywhere (polleverywhere.com); Google
Drive Spreadsheet (google.com/sheets); Infogram (http://infogr.am)
Standards Addressed: MGSE6.SP.5 Summarize numerical data sets in relation to their context, such
as by: a. Reporting the number of observations. b. Describing the nature of the attribute under
investigation, including how it was measured and its units of measurement.

Description of how to implement in the class: Each group will begin by brainstorming survey
questions to create an original poll. This brainstorming can be completed on the software Inspiration
if desired. Students will use Poll Everywhere to create the groups poll. Students will choose their
population (i.e. classroom, team, school, parents) as a class and distribute the polling information for
each group. After appropriate data is collected, each group will compile their data sets on the
provided Google Spreadsheet. Each groups data will be on individual sheets on the spreadsheet. Each
individual student will then use their groups data to create an infogram detailing the data sets, using
correct context in terms of data measurements and observations.
Poll Everywhere is a beneficial web-based productivity tool for students by applying a real-world
connection to data sets. This allows data collection to be student-centered and represented in real-
time visually. The use of Google Spreadsheets allows collaborative data results that are easily
accessible to all students. Google Drive eliminates document sharing issues with students while still
giving students the option to download the data. Finally, infogram allows students to easily create an
interactive product of data analysis without the hassle of graphing difficult data sets by hand.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): Level 4: Integration
Real-world connections applied for data collections while obtaining real-time survey results thru the
use of technology. Students will create an authentic product representing a data set. Instruction will
be student focused with a publishable product.
Description of the sample BBPT file provided *: Students will be creating an original poll and
creating their data sets using Google Spreadsheet in small groups; then students will create an
individual infogram to visually represent their groups collected data for the chosen sample
population. Students will have access to the sample BBPT files provided to use as a modeling tool.
Other comments about your proposed BBPT Activity: Infogr.am allows data upload from Google
Spreadsheet.
