of materials and accessories from storage area to the field. Use crane for
lifting and carrying materials boxes. It will be stayed suitable places, so it
prevents to work and workers work safely.
6.4. Installation
Transformer-Rectifier Procedures
- Groundbed
- Ensure that all relevant site conditions and working practices are
observed. If
necessary obtain a work permit as required by the site.
- Locate the site and clear any undergrowth.
- Check for buried services with a pipe/cable locator.
- Excavate to the required depth, and excavate trench for cable as required.
- Arrange the anodes and main cable ready for installation.
- Connect the anodes and the main cable according to the specification.
Actual
connections are usually made by line tap (split bolt) and sealed with an
appropriate
splice kit filled with resin. Ensure sufficient time is allowed for the resin to
set.
- Allow sufficient cable to enable either termination in a junction box near to
the
trench or at the transformer. This will be specified according to the design
of the
system.
- Test the continuity of the cables.
- Use half the carbonaceous backfill and line the bottom of the trench.
- Place the anodes and main cable on the carbonaceous backfill.
- Use the remainder of the carbonaceous backfill to cover the anodes.
- Backfill the trench and re-instate the ground.

in narrow work places and when reversing. Vehicles will not pass, will not be
positioned or parked close to excavation edges.
Lifting of the stacks of cable trays will be carried out only with fabric slings
with the proper safe working load limit. Fabric slings shall be protected for
sharp edges on the trays. The slings will be inspected and color-coded. Lifting
operation shall be segregated from other persons on site. All personnel and
third parties will be kept out of any area where they might be struck or
crushed by a load or lifting equipment if it swings, shifts or falls.
