To Whom It May Concern,

I would like to write this letter of recommendation for Ms. Katie Lehman. I have
known Ms. Lehman since November 2016 when I became the speech language
pathologist in her blended preschool classroom. I work as a Speech Language
Pathologist in Ms. Lehmans classroom one to two times a week. Within this time, I
have many opportunities to observe Ms. Lehmans interactions with the students,
teaching assistants, and other support personnel. From my observations, it appears
that Ms. Lehman has developed nice relationships with many of her students,
completes her designated responsibilities in timely matter, and works well with
many of her team members.
Ms. Lehman is a preschool teacher responsible for a set of 12-15 children in the
morning and in the afternoon. For many of these students, this is the first time apart
from their parents. Despite what could be a traumatic experience, from my
observations, many of the students are excited to come to school and
enthusiastically greet her in the morning. Ive only been with her for two months,
but I have seen that she has improved in her ability to set forth expectations too.
This has allowed her to have a nice balance of humor and discipline in the
classroom. She has created a fun and safe atmosphere of learning for her young
students.
Ms. Lehman also has many duties set upon her by our school district. For example
she collects data that aligns to the Teaching Strategies GOLD objectives that allow
her to create individualized student portfolios. Additionally she helps in creating her
students IEP and collecting data throughout the year to help track progress. Finally
she attends monthly meeting s with fellow teachers to analyze student growth and
problem-solve about student behaviors and lack of growth.
Ms. Lehman also has the important duty of working very closing with three teacher
assistants in her classroom. Despite all of them having more experience in this job,
Ms. Lehman has created a respectable working atmosphere. She is able to ask them
to carry out many duties and also take suggestions from them. All of the adults
appear to respect one another and work well together. Ms. Lehman has also been
very receptive to any suggestions I may have in regards to implementing speech
and language strategies for the students. I feel like I can approach her and she will
attempt to carry out any requests and strategies I suggest.
If you have any questions about Ms. Lehmans experience with West Chicago
District 33 Preschool or questions about this letter please free to contact me.

Sincerely
Meredith Tonarelli, M.A. CCC-SLP
