Grading
This course follows the faculty approved grading guidelines of a maximum class average
GPA in the range of 2.700 to 3.000 for core classes and a maximum class average GPA in
the range of 3.000-3.333 for business elective classes. Please note the stated average
class GPA range is a maximum average range and the class average GPA range could be
lower.
Grading & Assignments
Students will either receive a satisfactory or unsatisfactory grade for the final
grade.
Assignments and in-class activities are worth 75% of your final grade and
attendance is worth 25% of your final grade.
1
All work related to the course will be submitted through Canvas and is due by 3PM
on the due date for the assignment (Please see detailed class schedule and due
dates on the last two pages of the syllabus).
For all students, homework assignments, in-class activities, quizzes, and any
other class-related work must be completed; completed assignments will receive 1-
30 points, depending on the assignment expectations. If a student does not submit
an assignment, he or she will automatically receive a 0 and fail the assignment.
LATE ASSIGNMENTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED NOR WILL YOU BE ALLOWED
TO MAKE-UP AN IN-CLASS ASSIGNMENT.
Since the homework and other graded assignments reflect your personal
preparation for career planning and how prepared you are for success, the grading
of your assignments will be based on your attention to detail, following directions
and evidence of effort placed into completing the work. Each completed
assignment will be read and evaluated for the perceived effort you exhibit. A lack
of effort on assignments will negatively impact the amount of points you receive.
Students can track their cumulative grade in Canvas.
Assignment details will be discussed in class but directions for each assignment
will be on Blackboard each week under the tab Assignments. Assignment due
dates are on the course schedule.
Again, all assignments will be submitted through Canvas unless otherwise
noted. Some of the assignments require you to participate in Discussion Boards via
Canvas. Please be sure you thoroughly read Assignment directions in order to
properly and successfully complete your assignments.
Additional assignments may be added to the syllabus during the semester at the
instructors discretion.
Routine illness, activities/meetings related to other classes, extracurricular
activities, car trouble, computer problems, voting, interviews, and personal travel
are not exceptional circumstances to miss class or not turn in an assignment. Do
not seek make-up work under these circumstances. Students keeping up on
assignments and regularly attending class should not have difficulty passing
because of an isolated absence or missed assignment.
Class Attendance
While it is understood that things come up, your attendance to each scheduled class is
expected. Attendance is worth 25% of your final grade. Roll will be taken at the
beginning of each class.
