Cricket a Game of Glorious Uncertainties, Expectations, pressure,
commitment, failure, winning, prayers, shouts and what not! Yes, this is

JGI
what cricket is all about and it all happened in full color at the 10th
Edition of Jubilee General Insurance Cricket Tournament, played on the
UBL Cricket Ground, Federal B Area, Karachi from November 2015
to December 2015.

CRICKET
Like every year, the tournament featured with eight inter-departmental
teams from JGI Head Office and Karachi branches. Jubilee Zebras
entered the tournament as the defending champions 2014. Jubilee Lions
the unbeatable team of the tournament eventually won the tournament
by Fasihuddin Khan, Manager- Operations by beating Jubilee Cheetahs in the final by 16 runs.

The tournament saw couple of upsets with Jubilee Tigers & Jubilee Hawks; both were eliminated at the group stage just
because of their casual performance.

THE FINAL MATCH, Mr Kamran Arif the captain of Jubilee Lions won the toss and elected to bat first and registered 120
runs as a target for Cheetas to win. In reply cameo innings of Mr Khawar and Mr Tariq developed hopes for them to win
but the bowlers of Lions bowled well and restricted the Cheetas to 104. Ather Jafferis outstanding allround performance
earned him the man of the match award. Mr Atiq A Mahmudi-Executive Director, Mr Hashim Shamim-Advisor, Mr Azfar
Arshad-EVP Operations, Mr Nawaid Jamal-CFO & EVP Finance, Mr Nadeem Irshad-EVP A&H and Mr Imran Mughal-EVP
CRO & Head of ERM attended and witnessed the final match as special guests.

There were recognitions, Mr Mubeen Amin of Jubilee Rhinos - the man was named Player of the Tournament for his
performance in smiting boundaries, sixers and making quick runs and Mr Munir Ul Haq declared as the best commentator.
Jubilee General also presented a memento to the organizers of the tournament for their continued services for last one
decade to arrange and organize all the sports activities with the true spirit and colors.

The Curious Case of
DIGITALIZATION AND GLOBAL
RETAIL REVOLUTION
by Mehlub Usmani, Deputy Manager- Ratail Sales

The economy of Pakistan has not

been performing well for the past few
years. The country has seen little growth and
penetration of the insurance industry too has not
risen above the low rate of less than 1%. Domestically,
the real challenge for the industry lies in securing a higher
contribution in the GDP and breaking out of its stereotyped,
conventional mold.

Taking a glance at the rapidly evolving retail culture around the globe, the
insurance industry is yet to transform and collect itself to keep pace. With
wide scale digitization and an increasing dependency upon the Internet of
Things (IoT), the exchange of information has become quick and easy. It has
made buying, selling, marketing and advertising of products and services targeted
and experience based. There is a readiness in big brands to adapt to ecommerce and
switch to the fancy User Experience (UX) based carting solutions. There is a stress upon
enhancing the user experience and building interactive interfaces to attract and facilitate
customers and engaging them in ones products and services.

Moreover, with the recognition of big data, there is now greater scope for the insurance industry
too to compete at a fair advantage and make their product positioning more targeted. Retail and
tech giants like Google, Facebook, Target, Amazon, Walmart, Macys and Yahoo have become
data banks for retail portfolios. These giants hoard up information on their customers and users
which could be used by other brands to their advantage. For instance, Facebook would know the
number of people who like to travel, or travel frequently, or what their health status is and what their
interests and hobbies are. All of this information, collected by these tech and retail giants on a regular,
real-time basis, makes it of high value to other businesses and could be used favorably.

Digitally, relevant data can also be conveniently analyzed and assessed. The number of visitors on your
website, the number of people clicking through your products, the bounce rate and ROI (Return on Investment)
on your campaigns can all be tracked and monitored on a real-time basis and tweaked and altered as you
see the results. According to a Harvard Business Review, a smartly devised digital program can lead to a 65%
reduction in cost, a 90% reduction in the turnaround time on key insurance processes and improve the
conversion rates by 20%. Furthermore, another interesting finding of the Harvard Business Review study was
that most insurance companies are focusing 83% in marketing and 78% in sales but lag behind when it comes
to customer retention. The ability to service customer digitally with efficiency cannot be overlooked.

There is also a hope for fairer and healthier competition in the industry now with the arrival of insurance
aggregators in the market. The comparison of quotes and the listing of products and feature comparison had
never been easier. Moreover, this gives a chance to the companies to upsell and cross sell their products and
make their new and existing customer bases strong.

Digital data, a strong online presence and e-sales could help insurers figure out a driving score. Digitization
makes it easier for the insurers to figure out which customers to attract, where to look, how to channel and
target, how to be everywhere and how to decrease payouts for fraudulent claims. However, to gain a firm
footing in the digital world, the biggest challenge for the insurers to find their way around right now is
adaptability and willingness.

Terrorism can be described as the unlawful use of violence and intimidation in the pursuit of
political, economic, religious or social aims. In recent years terrorism has become one of
greatest threats to the world's future. There are many forms of international terrorism such
as biological, chemical, nuclear, and environmental. Collectively, these entities make
terrorism a destructive threat to humanity.

In the world today, there is a growing trend in violence, internationally, in the form of
terrorism. It is present in our everyday lives and exists in every part of the world with
variation. Terrorism takes on many forms and has affected our lives in one way or another.
In certain situations it has impacted us directly either with the loss of a loved one or indirect-
ly by heightened security at the airports causing delays, sudden drop in a stock values we
own, or emotionally by the countless reports and images displayed by the media. During
the last twenty years, new terrorist groups have sprung up all over the world and the
governments around the world are trying to find solution to this challenge.

According to a report published by Institute of Economics and Peace the number of lives
lost to terrorism increased by 80% in 2014, reaching the highest level ever recorded at
32,658 as compared to 18,111 in 2013. According to the third edition of the Global
Terrorism Index (GTI), this increase represents the largest yearly increase in deaths ever
recorded. Statistical analysis of the patterns of terrorist activity since 1989 found that there
were two factors most closely associated with terrorism. These are the levels of political
violence committed by the state, and the level of armed conflict within a country. The report
finds that 92% of all terrorist attacks between 1989 and 2014 occurred in countries which
political violence by the government was widespread, while 88% of all terrorist attacks
between 1989 and 2014 occurred in countries that were experiencing or involved in
violent conflicts The economic cost of terrorism reached its highest level ever in 2014 at
US$52.9 billion, an increase of 61% from the previous years total of US$32.9 billion,
about tenfold increase since 2000.

In these perilous and uncertain times one needs immediate financial protection from any
and all future losses due to terrorist activities. This is where Jubilee General Insurance
Company Limited fulfills its role as a reliable partner on which both individuals and corpo-
rations can depend on. Jubilee General offers multiple packages in regards to terrorism
insurance with variation in the scope of cover. Initially restricted cover were being offered
with T3 wording which only provided coverage for terrorism, Jubilee General now offers
wider coverage through other terrorism insurance packages such as LMA 3030 which
covers terrorism and sabotage, along with LPO 437 & LMA 3092 which also cover riot &
strike, civil commotion and malicious damage. Jubilee General also offers additional
coverage under AFB PV (political violence) which covers damage in regards to insurrection,
revolution, rebellion, war & civil war etc. Globally terrorism insurance is considered to be a
complex product for insurance companies, as the odds of terrorist attacks are very difficult
to predict with enormous potential liability. This combination of uncertainty and potentially
huge losses makes the setting of premiums a difficult matter. However Jubilee General
Insurance Company Ltd is committed to providing its customers with maximum security and
assistance in these precarious and unpredictable times by offering them these unique
packages which have become a necessity in these times at the right cost.
