Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
Understand the structure of water and wastewater treatment
processes.
Learn the sources of water and wastewater pollution.
Perform analytical techniques for characterization of water and
wastewater such as TDS, TSS, COD, BOD, and DO.
Learn unit operations in water and wastewater treatment processes.
Learn biological water and wastewater treatment.
Understand the disinfection processes
Learn new technologies such as membrane processes for water and
wastewater treatment.

Course Materials: Materials will be posted on the course webpage at the AUS
blackboard website iLearn. You must also bring the textbook to the
class.
Attendance: You are expected to attend all required classes. The Student
Handbook outlines the procedures for dismissal from the course for non-
attendance. Attendance in the lectures is very important. You are responsible for
all of the material presented in lectures. Late arrival to class is very disruptive,
and should be avoided.
Homework:
Exams:
Two midterm exams will be conducted. Final exam will be scheduled by the
registrar. There will be no make-up examinations. If a student misses an exam
without an excuse, a zero will be given in that exam. If a student misses one of
the midterm exams due to an excused absence (i.e., documented emergency or
illness), the average of the other exams will be used to get the grade of the
missed one. All exams are closed-book; equations that are difficult to be
memorized and necessary information will be provided.
