Applied linguistics is an autonomous subject in linguistics.

Before the emergence of

scientific linguistics its main task was to optimize the function of language in traditional
text (exegesis and hermeneutics).so we can define it as a functional point of view which
studies and develops ways to optimize the functioning of language.

The study of language is not only covers one aspect, but has extended to fields or
aspects outside the language associated with the use of language and human life.

As Baranov says:

It is the application of scientific knowledge about the structure and functioning of the
language in non-linguistic disciplines and in different areas of practical human activity,
as well as theoretical understanding of such activities.

But in mostly western countries term is associated with the development of language
teaching methods and the theory of translation.

The goals, objectives and main areas of applied linguistics

It is an independent scientific discipline.

It deals with problems of language in various spheres of human activity, including the
modeling of the process of cognition, language training, the establishment of regulatory
linguistic descriptions, etc.

.On the one hand, specific areas of applied linguistics are considered as part of the
discipline within the newly formed scientific field, called a general term Computer
Science.

Linguistic models are studied and applied, such as the practice of teaching the language
of the theory of speech influence, political linguistics and explore and develop ways to
optimize the functioning of language.

The special objective of modern linguistics is solving practical problems and needs of
the society is determined by the current stage of development of human civilization in
which the role of language and verbal communication is extremely increased.

Despite the fact, the subject can be identified common characteristics:

Leading role modeling method;

Applied experimental techniques

A complex combination of different sciences:

As mentioned above, that the object of study of applied linguistics is none other than the
language.
Every teacher Must Know the Relation of Applied
Linguistics in Language learning
Applied linguistics is a practical field. This science can be seen as a new discipline that
can grow and be recognized. We can say that lexicography, translation, pathology, and
speech therapy is part of the applied linguistics subject. This subject is the connection
between linguists, language researchers, and implementer in the field, namely the
teacher.

The main focus is to deal with the real life language problems

Such as:

Teaching and learning a foreign language as a second language,

Language policy:

Language inequality problem.

Assessment of language program,

Measurement and assessment of language,

Speech therapy,

In language teaching there are terms that need to be understood in the proper sense and
concept, the approach, methods. The approach is a set of assumptions regarding the
nature of language and language teaching and learning. The method is a comprehensive
and systematic plan.

Through language method of applied linguistics Language learning activity is an effort

where learners can learn the language in an effective and efficient manner. Efforts can
be made by defining the strategy of learning content, and establishing procedures for the
measurement of learning outcomes.

Therefore, every teacher must have the skills in choosing a learning strategy for each
type of learning activity. Thus, by choosing appropriate learning strategies in any kind
of learning activity, the expected achievement of learning objectives can be achieved. A
language learning program that is comprehensive and integrated cannot escape from
giving input linguistic and cultural aspects at the same time. This needs to be done so
that the student can apply linguistic proficiency and speaking skill in a cultural context.

In the process of learning the language, there are a number of variables, both linguistic
and non linguistic nature, which can determine the success of the teaching and learning
process.
Thus, it can be applied linguistics that relate to language learning in a second
language. Contrastive analysis is very useful for educators in determining what material
will be delivered in the language learning.
