QUESTIONING LEARNING an exercise in metacognition

Consider one specific time that you attended your content area class. Answer the following questions
based on your experience during the entire lesson. Please type your answers in paragraph format.

1. Seat location:
How difficult was it for you to interact with the other students based on your seat location?
How difficult was it for you to interact with the professor based on your seat location?
Do you believe that students who sit in the front of the classroom are more successful in their
interactions in a class?
2. Attentiveness
Did any private conversation or person distract you during the lesson?
How would you feel if your professor separated you from other students who may distract you
during the lesson?

Did you more frequently raise your hand or just talk out when participating in class?
Do you prefer to just talk out when you wish to participate or do prefer a class where you are
required to raise your hand? Which way do you feel most valued?

Did your cell phone distract you during the learning process?
Do you believe that your cell phone is a distraction for your learning?
What classroom policy regarding cell phones would you prefer?

Do you believe that you should wait for a question/answer period during the class to ask
questions or ask questions as you go along?

In general, when professors give homework, which way do you prefer that they tell you the
homework verbally, written on a handout, or written on blackboard?
