AUDIO/ VISUAL CHECKLIST

SKYLINE COMMUNITY CHURCH

The Skyline Host/ess will provide the guidance necessary for you to perform the
audio/visual needs for your event.

Name of Group: ____________________________________________________

Date of Event: ______________________________________________________

Unlock cabinet where microphones are located and turn switch to ON. Change
out rechargeable batteries for fully charged one if needed. Chargers are on the
AV counter in the tower recharge only identical batteries at the same time in the
charger.

Turn power strip located on beam at front of Sanctuary (behind the Pulpit) to ON.
(This powers up the subwoofer and the PA amplifier.)

In AV Tower, unlock cabinet doors and slide doors in position

FOR VISUAL PROJECTION:

Take Skyline Admin Computer out, plug into power supply and boot.
Username/password is written on computer keyboard.

Upon start up, the computer will launch Internet Explorer. If it does not do this
automatically, launch Internet Explorer from the Start Menu. The login screen for
the projectors remote control interface will appear. The username/password
(user1/Panasonic) should be saved default entries. Click OK. Click the ON
button to power up the projector.

If you want to use the Admin Computer for your video/slideshows etc, see the list
of available programs. Be aware that there is no Microsoft Office installed, only
Open Office programs.

To use your own computer to control your slideshow/ video, etc.,

connect to the white VGA cord on the counter. Computer may
need to be set to accept new monitor. Occasionally resolution
may need to be reset.
FOR AUDIO OUTPUT:

The microphones all use the long slender PS speaker on Sanctuary beam. This
is superior for spoken word. Music can be played from several speaker systems:

o Yamaha Amp:

Turn receiver power ON, Effect Off. To control volume, use the Yamaha Remote
on counter.

o To play from a computer/iPod to this system, use the

double cord (red & white) which is plugged into the front
of the Yamaha receiver and select V/AUX.

o To play a CD, put it in Sony DVD player and select DVD. Use DVD player
to skip to correct CD, and then skip to the correct song.

A Large Speakers behind screen and behind organ

B Speakers on floor behind screen

o PA System Channel 8:

If you are using microphones at the same time you want music to play, DO
NOT use this system, the two compete and you will have alternating music and
speech.

Connect long cord marked iPod/ channel 8 to the computer/iPod. Volume is

controlled through the PA system on channel 8.

MICROPHONES

Microphone volume is controlled from PA mixer. The Green light on mixer

indicates which microphone channel is transmitting

There is one lapel microphone labeled Lapel Lavelier. All other microphones are
directional and must be held close to the mouth of the speaker.

PULPIT CONTROL

To control your presentation from the front of the sanctuary, switch the box at
back of Sanctuary to B for Pulpit Control. Use the VGA cords up front to connect
your laptop and present.
Pulpit Control for Audio is only possible through the mixer on Channel 8 with the
cord up front.

DO NOT use an iPod to play music from the front. It will sound tinny and
distorted.

POWER DOWN SEQUENCE

Turn power strip located on beam at front of Sanctuary (behind pulpit) to OFF.
(This powers down the subwoofer and the PA Amplifier.)

Turn switch in microphone cabinet to OFF only after the above step.

PROGRAMS ON THE SKYLINE LAPTOP

No Microsoft Office Programs are fully installed. You may open documents and
presentations in these programs, but they have no functionality. Instead use

Open Office Suite: You can show files with these programs, but you can also
create a new file with these programs.

o Writer = Word
o Calc = Excel
o Impress = PowerPoint
o Base = Access
o Math
o Draw

To play a CD, or an mp3 use Window Media Player.

(If you have music from iTunes, make sure it is in .mp3 format and NOT
.m4a)

For Internet use Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer

To play a slideshow of pictures, input them into a presentation. You CANNOT

play pictures directly from a file to the projector using Windows.
SUNDAY MICROPHONE PREP

8:30 Check to see if batteries are fully charged and if not, put in the charger.

9:30 or after choir practice is done Put batteries into microphones and test to
make sure that they are loud enough for people to hear (especially from the
pulpit). Ideally the liturgist will check volume on pulpit microphone to personalize
the level for her/his voice. To change the volume, turn the dial under the green
light of the microphone you are testing. DO NOT change the master volume.

9:45 Put out the hearing devices for Betty Hunter and others who need them on
the table near the doors

11:30 or after worship Remove batteries and charge for next user. Leave the
microphones empty so the batteries do not lose charge during the week. Put the
batteries that are fully charged into the Fully Charged Box

Thank you for helping everyone hear clearly!

NOTES ON THE BATTERIES:

Only put identical batteries in the same charger at one time. Batteries that look
different ARE different and do not charge the same.

For a regular Sunday Service, the Lapel Lavelier and the Pianists microphone
need FULL batteries; other microphones can have batteries partly charged.

NOTES ON THE MICROPHONES:

When finished using the microphones, make sure that they are off and placed
back into slots or hung up here.

Microphones are DIRECTIONAL. Always speak directly into them.

A Green Light means the microphone is ON.

An Orange Light means the microphone is MUTED. Push the button again to
turn it back on.

A Red Light means the batteries are dead or there is a malfunction. Get fresh
batteries

No Light means the microphone is off completely.

ISSUES FOR CONTINUED CONVERSATION

The Lavelier with the Ear Piece does not work and I am guessing it is because
of water damage. When you tap it, you can hear the tap, however to speak into
it, you get a squeal and no amplification.

On the Admin Laptop in the Tower, Microsoft Windows can't show pictures as
slideshows on the big screen without being part of a presentation. There is a
setting where you are able to clone the screen and show the same thing on the
projected screen as the Laptop screen, and this setting is no longer found. We
can only extend the screen and "push" windows between the two monitors.

The most reliable method of projection has been to bring in another Laptop that
the presenter is more familiar with.

Up front we cannot play an iPod using the audio cord because the sound is
distant and any vocalization sounds weak. To play audio from a computer up
front is still possible. However, it should always be kept in mind that all audio up
front runs through the PA mixer, and competes with the microphones.

Keep in mind that all microphones come from the same speaker, so you can only
have one person speak at a time. If you have two people speaking on two mics,
or music playing through the mixer, it will bounce back and forth from each
participant.
