Grade Level: 1st grade
Content Area: Science
Beyond-the-Basic Productivity Tool Used: Glogster
Standards Addressed: S1E1. Students will observe, measure, and communicate weather data to see
patterns in weather and climate. a. Identify different types of weather and the characteristics of each
type.

Description of how to implement in the class:
During the lesson we will sit as a group to learn about different types of weather and what
causes them, including low/high temperatures, high and low air pressure, and fronts. The students
will also address characteristics that each type of weather has in order to help them differentiate
between the different types. We will fill out a KWL chart about weather throughout the lesson for the
students to gather information and refer back to when they are creating their Glogs. We will also talk
about seasonal patterns such as when it rains the most, and average high and low temperatures per
season.
In groups of two, students will create a Glog explaining different types of weather and basic
vocabulary words about weather. They must include at least one video, three pictures and two links.
Students will pick from a template and will be provided a list of websites that I have pre-researched
to gather additional information and link onto their pages. Students will work independently from
the teacher; I will only help as needed once they have all of the needed information to be successful.
Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi): This lesson is LoTi level 3 during the teaching of the
lesson but once students separate into groups it becomes level 4 because teaching is student-
centered and students are applying learning to the real world by creating a blog.
Description of the sample BBPT file provided *: I have attached a sample Glog for students to
reference on the type of things I expect to see on their Glogs.

Other comments about your proposed BBPT Activity: Students will work in pairs in order to use
their peers for assistance and will be using premade templates that are accessible on Glogster.
