1. How does a Christian Liberal Arts education in
Communication prepare you for Kingdom work?
I believe God has given each one of His children an individual
purpose as well as a set of skills and talents to pursue that purpose.
During my time at Wheaton I have begun to realize that I was put on
this earth to love and create. Each of my classes, COMM as well as GEN
ED, have revealed aspects of effective communication which, for me,
translates to utilizing different avenues of communication to express
genuine, Christ-like love.
2. What is the relationship of your principles to the discipline
of Communication?
My Wheaton education has, more than anything, been shaped by
visual rhetoric. I spoke about my purpose being to love and create, and
in the last three years God has equipped me with the ability to reveal
His power and love through my own creative process. This principle is
at the core of my learning experience and continues to shape how my
art effectively communicates and connects with people. Our ability to
create beauty is a direct reflection of a mighty Creator.

3. How does communication shape our lives?

Communication is not confined to a speech written on a page or
given to a crowd, it actively shapes our lives in how we dress, act,
speak, walk, and interact with different people parties. Through the
different communication criticisms I have studied I can more effectively
assess why a person speaks or acts in a certain way, not to critique
but to understand and better relate. I can look at my own actions and
reveal how I have been culturally conditioned in one way or another. In
my experience, this is humbling.
