Nowadays, the use of renewable energy is a must and scientists are inventing applications

that use a renewable energy in order to reduce greenhouse gases and provide a clean
environment. Thus Solar Cooling is both possible and reliable. Exploitation of solar thermal
energy for cooling is an efficient, intelligent and environmentally friendly way to use
renewable energy sources to meet our air conditioning needs. Air conditioning is an
attractive area for solar energy use as it is estimated that 45% of household energy
consumption is used for cooling. Furthermore, 10-20% of all electricity produced is
consumed for refrigeration and air conditioning. Solar energy is a prime target as
an energy source as peak radiation levels typically coincide with peak refrigeration
and air conditioning demands, so the maximum solar radiation usually occurs when
cooling is needed. The absorption cooling system differs from the vapor
compression system only in the method employed in compressing the refrigerant,
where the compressor is replaced by an absorber, generator and a pump. For
designing the system, it is required to calculate all the parameters needed to
provide the best cooling efficiency and high coefficient of performance for that
system and then compare it to a compressive refrigeration system.
