HUMAN ANATOMY
Welcome to your Anatomy Class SY ______. Studying Anatomy requires a lot of
discipline and perseverance especially for those who are dedicated to pursuing a medical
career in the future. This Introduction to Human Anatomy Course will prepare you for
the more rigid Clinical Anatomy which you will encounter in medical school.

The subject in itself is already tough but that does not mean it is impossible to pass.
However, despite its perceived difficulty, Anatomy is a necessity in order for you to
become good clinicians someday. Consider it as the ABC in medicine. You won’t be able
to master the other important skills in Medicine if you do not master this subject.
On my end I will make sure that your Anatomy course will be as easy as possible. Of
course, half of the efforts will come from your personal dedication.
So, to get things started in your Anatomy Course, let us first consider some of the
following points:
I. REQUIREMENTS:
a. You are required to be on class during the lecture and the lab activities for
this course. While you don’t get a grade for your attendance, there is
however a maximum number of absences allotted for this course. In this
case, you are only allowed a maximum number of 8 absences. On the 9th
absence, you will be dropped from this course. Do not come to class late as
well. Two incidences of being late is equivalent to one absence. A student
is late if he or she comes to class after the final attendance has been called.
Final attendance is usually called 10 minutes after the bell. Excused
absence requires a letter or a medical certificate whichever is appropriate.
It will not be credited to your number of absence but you will be
responsible for your missed lectures/tests.
b. Expect that there will be a pre-lecture quiz and/or a post-lecture quiz.
These quizzes will either be announced or unannounced. It is best to
prepare before hand. There will be NO make-up quizzes. A missed quiz is
equivalent to zero. For excused absences, a missed quiz will not be
included in the total number of quizzes during the calculation for the term
grade. At times, Long/Chapter tests will also be given. All lecture quizzes
and tests will be Identification or Enumeration Type.
c. Students are required to comply with Lab Work Sheets. Each student must
compile his/her Lab worksheets in a Short Folder which will be collected
at the end of each term.
II. GRADING SYSTEM:
a. LECTURE ---------------------------- 70%
b. LAB ----------------------------------- 30%
c. TERM GRADE----------------------- 100%

b. Term Exam ------------------------ 30%

a. Worksheet -------------------------- 50%
b. Lab Exam---------------------------- 30%

d. Total --------------------------------- 100%

b. MIDTERMS ---------------------------- 30%
c. ENDTERMS ---------------------------- 40%
d. FINAL COURSE GRADE ------------- 100%

III. REFERENCES:
a. Any Anatomy Book will suffice for this course. However, I recommend the
following books as reference for you to consult during your studies:
i. Gray's Anatomy: The Anatomical Basis of Clinical Practice, 40th edition (2008)
ii. Clinical Anatomy by Richard S. Snell, 7th Edition
b. The Internet is a rich resource for Anatomy lectures. While I encourage
you to search the Internet, I would like to caution you that not all websites
can be dependable. Be sure to check and cross-check their references and
bibliography if you want to use websites as your reference.

IV. FINAL WORDS: Come to think of it, it is very easy to pass this course than to
fail it. You really can’t fail this course because it is almost too difficult for you
to fail it. Passing this course is much easier. So, I won’t give tips on how to
PASS this course, considering how easy this will be. I will however give tips on
how to FAIL this course just in case you wish to do so. ;-)
Tip # 1: To fail this course, you simply DON’T COME TO CLASS. Why waste the
effort right? Maybe distance learning is more appropriate for you. So why come to
class if you intend to fail this course? So, if you don’t want to pass this course, simply
don’t show up in class.
Tip # 2: To fail this course, DON’T BOTHER READING YOUR BOOK. After all,
Anatomy books are so thick and heavy they can give you so much eye strain if you
come to think about it. Besides, you wouldn’t want to be an Anatomist. You just
wanted to be an ordinary college student, right? So why bother even lifting a page
from this heavy and expensive book?
Tip # 3: To fail this course, DON’T TAKE THE QUIZZES. Since you haven’t read
your book anyway, why bother waste your pen on questions you have totally no idea
about? Of course, one other major reason is Climate Change so by not taking the
quiz, you will reduce your usage of paper, therefore reduce the need for cutting trees
that will be used to make paper, and therefore increase the chances of reversing
Climate Change. After all, reversing climate change and other problems of the world
are more pressing and urgent issues than let’s say getting a diploma and finding a
career that will help you later on change the world around you.
Tip # 4: To fail this course, get yourself caught while CHEATING. Perhaps, maybe
you can master the skill of espionage or camouflage and then resort to cheating
during the quiz or exam. In fact, this is a nice idea. Let your classmates do the
studying for you and then wait during the exams when you can just copy their
answers. They pass. You pass. Right? It’s not like you are hurting somebody here.
Tip # 5: To fail this course requires a total change in attitude. Traits like APATHY,
INDIFFERENCE, LACK OF MOTIVATION, LACK OF ENTHUSIASM, LACK OF
DILIGENCE are needed in order for a promising student to fail this course. You can’t
have FAILURE without U and I. So, it takes U to fail yourself. On my end, I will only
calculate your grade and give you the FAILING MARK if you deserve it. So, prove
yourself worthy of this Failing Grade and I will by no means give you one.
With these tips on hand, it is therefore clear to say that it is far easier to pass this course
than fail it. For a bunch of students like you, not coming to class or not taking the test is
by far very difficult to do. Not reading your books or cheating in class is definitely very
hard to do, almost impossible for the kind of student such as yourself. So, don’t even
bother attempting to fail this course. Be content of passing this course instead. ☺
Good luck class.
