Your Elected Officials

Tips for contacting your elected officials:

1. The most effective form of contact is personally showing up at town halls and meetings.
Second most effective are phone calls. Letter and emails are significantly below that.
2. In letters and notes, clearly state your position and be personal about the impact on
you. (As a teacher/parent/nurse/etc, I see the effects of this every day) Include your
name and address.
3. In phone calls, be sure they write down your name and zip code, so they know you are a
constituent. Make a separate phone call for each issue.
4. Even if you know your elected representative agrees with you, contact them! Elected
officials dont often hear from people who agree with them, and need to know that you
care.
