REFLECTION ON MIRCOTEACHING

Throughout doing my microteaching, I have eventually gained a new knowledge

and perspective of being a teacher. This has given me an opportunity to be prepared for
my upcoming practicum next year. The topic which I have chosen is regarding on the
topic Parts of body in year 1 whereby the teaching skill I have proposed is induction
set. One of the main reasons why I have selected this topic is because it gave me an
idea in starting the lesson by singing and dancing. As for me, one of my favorite hobbies
is listening to music and singing songs. Therefore, it gave me no trouble in conducting
the induction set by dancing and singing. Plus, from this approach, teachers could
eventually attract the students attention and also create an enjoyable learning
environment for the students.

During the process of preparing the lesson plan, I had trouble in choosing the
right topic for my microteaching. I was rather confused and uncertain in selecting which
year and topic. However, after a long flip through all the Curriculum Specifications,
finally I was able to come to my agreement in choosing on the topic Parts of body in
year 1. The problem when worse as I was clueless in how to conduct the lesson. After a
long thinking, I came to a conclusion that, it would be better if I could use one of my
advantage skills that I poses and present the microteaching in which in this case was
singing and dancing.

When it comes to my presentation, I have receive a very good and positive

feedback from my two friends, Mohd Faris and Fazreen and plus my lecturer, Dr.
Palvinder. It gave me an opportunity to realize my own mistakes and gave me some
room for improvement so that it could prepare me to be a capable and a creative
teacher. Moreover, I was able to identify my own strength and weakness throughout
conducting my microteaching. In other words, I could say that, this microteaching have
been a scanning machine in analyzing every aspect of my characteristic, capability and
creativity.
In conjunction on the feedback given by my friends and lecturer, the strength I
have portrait was able to attract student attention and interest in learning. Plus, I were
able to make good use of non-verbal cues and able to voice out loudly and clearly.
Moreover, I was able to express positive attitude towards the students and have
interactive teaching aids in which I have used ICT technology and some mask pictures.

Next, regarding on my weakness that I could improve in my microteaching is to

conduct a demonstration to the students to first listen and observe the song and then do
the action movement. Then, later the students could sing together with the teacher and
act out the movement. Furthermore, I should make sure that before I start my activity, all
the students were given some space to move about. Next, I was suggested that it would
be more appropriate if the lyric of the song is written on the whiteboard. As overall, this
has given me a chance to identify my weakness and improve it in my future lesson
teaching.

In conclusion, experiencing this microteaching has given me a new confidences

and responsibility to be better and a great teacher. Plus, with the feedback given by my
lecturer and friends have given me a variety of knowledge and understanding in my
development to be well capable future teacher.
