BILL OF QUANTITY PREPARATION & TOTAL COST
ESTIMATION

The cost will be estimated in order to compare with the cost of Addis Abeba

housing development project. We are expected to design an economical

condominium project in terms of cost, aesthetically attractive and to provide

safe living environment for the residents. The cost of each material, labor and

other expenses are assessed through market assessment.

BAR SCHEDULE
CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

From the case study it is obtained that the condominium buildings have some

design problems like insufficient area allocation for rooms, kitchens, corridors

etc. The position of the stair case is also not in appropriate position especially

in the old condominium house. Beside to this the quality of construction

material, sanitary fittings etc. has great problem.

To alleviate this problem special attention is taken in designing process. The

proposed typologies are designed considering economy, safety and aesthetic

values. Since we used common walls, common stairs, agro stone partition wall,

energy saving lamps such as fluorescent and compacted lamps the designs are

economical and cost efficient.

From this project the lesson we learnt are the following: it improve the

knowledge and skill of structural design, architectural design, electrical

installation, sanitary design and computation of bill of quantity. It also gave us

more lesson which are most useful. It helps us to acquire knowledge through

discussion, referring different book, consulting our advisors, familiarizing with

EBCS ( Ethiopian Building Code Standard ). In addition to this familiarize with

different softwares such as Archicad, Autocad, SAP and ETABs.

The project covers the majority of the courses which are in the curriculum. It

helps the students to revise the previous courses. So, the project should

continue.
